i love the ncaa tournament, but as many have stated before, it makes the regular season pointless. how often have we seen the top 2 teams meet in the final? would you rather see a duke-arizona type game of the absolute 2 best teams, or maryland-indiana matchup where one team drags through the regular season and gets hot at the right time?

It never pits the best 2 teams together, but that is the beauty of it. I'm from Wichita and will be pulling for WSU the entire way. That said, do you really think they are one of the 4 best teams in the country? Not at all. It's all about match-ups and your coaches ability to maximize his talent vs those match-ups. The shocks just happened to play teams that they matched up really well against. I feel the same way against Louisville also. Duke, not so much.

This has been discussed many times on here btw.

I'd like to see a 32 team best of three tournament.

i would rather watch a 6-round, three week extravaganza of pseudo-amateur basketball without having to listen to people bitch about how tainted the whole thing is because the championship game does not involve the 2 teams they want to see play

and for those retards who believe playoffs/tournaments make the regular season pointless: the point of the regular season in college basketball is for seeding in the playoffs/tournament. the better the regular season, the easier path to the championship in the postseason.

It's pretty neglibile - this easier path based on season performance because nobody really knows how good some of the mid-majors are let alone the powers. That's 4 months of basketball for the committee to seed Oregon #12 or your supposedly easier path suddenly turns into a nightmare because the seeding process is full of errors.

...And tell that to Duke who finished with the best RPI and #6 in the polls and had to face the #1 overall seed and best team in the tournmanent by far in the regional finals.

So, yeah...regular season WOT.

I'd rather have a 16 team NCAA tournament and then enlarge the NIT.

Well, obviously the further you get into the tournament the harder it's going to get. They played Louisville in the elite 8, not the first round.

After the first round, your statement really has no validity.
