I apologize if this has been discussed here before but I just read it today on Daily Reveille that Russell Shepard was actually working out as a defensive back during the LSU Pro Day after being requested so by "a number of scouts". We all know that he's never played a single snap as a defensive back in his entire career (except for making a few tackles in special team). How likely do y'all think he is going to make it to NFL roster as a DB? I for one would like to see Shepard being able to continue his career in whatever way possible, but DB? Seriously?

From #1 dual threat QB in the country to mediocre WR to DB.

Thanks, Obama.

If you guys just wanted to focus on the name typo instead of the topic itself, then just don't bother to read it. You have better things to do in your life.

With Trindon, would be the 2 fastest speed rushers in the league.

Shep tweeted something about this a while back, so I'd heard it before. if he can make that move and make a roster, more power to him. difficult to imagine with his inexperience there as you noted. did he even play any defense in HS?

Man the rant is tough today on April 1, it must bring out all the Internet bad asses, grammar police, and smart asses. To the op, yes he tweeted about the drills he did and felt he did "descent" back paddling and such. But no this is his first go on that side of the ball. I for one hope he makes a roster.

I just corrected him to save him 30 posts about kelvin sheppard so frick off

Eta: to the OP, receivers who can't catch are usually moved to DB.

At this point the best way for Shep to make a roster is his versatility. He was a pretty decent tackler on special teams. He'll probably never be a starter in this league but, he's chances of making a roster improve if he shows he can play special teams, offense, and defense in a back up role.

NFL coaches love versatility when it comes to filling out the end of the roster.

Shep made some good special team tackles over the years. Hes a great athlete, that cannot catch the ball. He is also pretty inteligent. He also comes from a few different positions and perspectives. DB may end up being more of a natural fit for him than many expect.
