Sea Vee Boat Opinions

Any opinions from those that have used, owned and fished from a Sea Vee (340B in particular). There is a really good deal on a 34 Sea Vee that is about 5 years old. Was wondering about the thoughts and experiences on this boat.
Thanks
Thanks

I have none but you may want to try posting on the hull truth. I see threads about Sea Vee boats on there from time to time. Seem to be pretty solid nice riding boats from what i have read. That thing has trips i am guessing.

No, it actually has dual 275 Verados, which seems to be pretty under powered, but probably also one reason it is such a great deal. It is a good enough deal that you could pull the Mercs, sell them for a little money, and replace with Yamaha F350s and still end up with a pretty good deal overall.
Hull truth generally raves about the Seavee. There are pissing contest, it appears, between Yellowfin guys and Sea Vee guys. Yellowfin is faster...Sea Vee better made, etc. Then the Invicible Boat guys show up and on and on.
Since I fish LA/MS waters more than others, just wondering about what the locals think of the boats.

I would think that the hull should perform decent enough with the twin 275's while it may be 10 mph slower than a triple set up how many times can you actually run 70mph offshore. Even on Sea Vee's website there are several pictures of the 340 running with twins. With a hull weight of 6400 lbs it should run mid 50's with twins i would think and probably a 35mph cruise.

Phenomenal hull. May be a bit slower with motor setup, but not enough to really matter. One of the best offshore hulls out there

Limited knowledge on the subject but fished one with a guide several years ago, and was by far the most comfortable boat I have been on

You will not catch me running 70 offshore unless I am really, really in need of outrunning a storm.
The Verados apparently have about 600 hours on them with new lower units. I am personally a fan of the Yamaha. If we were to pull the trigger on the boat, I may try to sell the Mercs and purchase new F350s. I just think they are more reliable.

Would be ideal. I've only been on one SV before and loved it, I'd definitely pull the trigger

Great boat. Best layout there is. Great ride. Will go 50 WOT loaded down and cruise high 30s at 1.2-1.4. It's not a fast boat, even with trips low 60s is about all you can expect. They're also beautiful in person.

I'd be cheaper for you to go with a guide every time you wanted to go offshore.

If everyone took that advice though, then no one outside of guides would have boats.
Your point is well taken though. The boat would be as much of a family fun vehicle as it would be a hardcore fishing machine. Still probably not a justification to spend that much on a depreciating asset that will make me zero money...but hey, you only go around once.

This is pretty much my opinion until I am semi retired. I fished out of one once and it was by far the best set up fishing boat that I have fished out of.

Me fighting a Yellowfin on a 39'. Look how much room this boat has.

Probably the best reasoning to own a boat
I will hopefully be in the market for a 25+' boat in 3-5yrs

Look at 29' Regulators. That's a great size family boat.

Those are pretty sweet. I have also looked at 27 and 31 Cape Horns. The CHs seem to be very sea-worthy, but they lack storage and depreciate at an even higher rate than other "higher end" boats of the same type and class.
The thing I have seen with SeaVee and Yellowfin as well as with Venture is that they seem to have a floor in which they stop depreciating. Other brands do not seem to have that floor.
Heck, Yellowfin 24 Bay Boats are actually appreciating in price right now, from what I have seen.

Sea Vee and Yellowfin are tit for tat. All the rest are sucking hind teet
For sure dump the Verados and repower. If it is that good a deal where you can repower.
Jump on it

I have a 31 Cape Horn and it's worth more than I paid for it 4 years ago. The initial purchase price is lower than CV or YF, but if they have good engines they don't depreciate much at all. Excellent riding, very dry, fast, efficient boat. Doesn't have the storage like a CV, but it works just fine.

I actually like the bow line on the CH more than the CV or YF. It is like it blends the two bow lines. The YF is beautiful, but not practical in lifting a fish, or even cast net, over the bow, from my research.

Rich person problems
Kidding - I can't say I've ever been on one, but I hear only good things about them. They are very respected in the boating industry and will turn heads at the dock.
Another poster was right, check out thehulltruth, that site has a good number of CV owners on it.
