Seeing a lot of pictures of people's pots with oragnes in them. Thought?

I've been doing it for years. It's great.

I use a can of concentrate.

What does it bring to the party different than lemons?
Posted on 3/29/13 at 5:27 pm to dpd901
They're sweeter, but I toss lemons in too.

Waste of good citrus if you ask me.

But the guys cooking your crawfish might use it .

Different flavor palate than the usual lemon for the citrus element, can't hurt whatsoever. Orange zest and juice is used to convert hollandaise to maltaise for serving on fish.

Fatboy, how long have you been cooking? I am going on 49 years at a stove.

Next time I'm on a boat and it capsizes, I will reach for a lime. Like I'll be water-skiing without a life preserver, people will say "What the frick?" and I will pull out a lime. I'm saved by the buoyancy of citrus.

I'll take the boat capsizing over the chopper going down.

I use both concentrate and oranges. Sometimes I even throw in some Sunny D.

I put oranges or orange concentrate...Lemon or bottles of lemon juice...it does not matter. But I always put both.
To me the Oranges give it a cleaner flavor...sweeter! But...I can eat them either way. My best friend doesn't use lemons and they come out just fine. To each his own.

I don't put nothing I am not eating, that stuff soaks up more flavor than it is likely to give off. Maybe I am boring, but I just do the potatoes and corn.

We've never done oranges. I take the potatoes, crush a clove of garlic on a half, and squeeze the spicy lemon pulp on top. That's good eating if you haven't tried it.
