calling it incompatible is a misnomer. There's an explanation on that in my guide if you're interested.

A 780 is just $100 more on EVGA's Bstock. You will have one hell of a time pushing frames at 1440 on a 770.

Since I've been mining, most of my gaming has been on a single 7970 (GHz) at 1440p (it trades blows pretty well with the 770) . For the newer games, you essentially have to run everything on high (not ultra) and use FXAA to get 60fps. For shittily coded games, you'll probably have to turn off/down a few other little eyecandy features.
