So, this g-sync seems hardcore since it requires additional hardware in your monitor. I haven't been able to watch all the videos to completion. Is this essentially trying to solve/solving what frame pacing, adaptive vsync, and dynamic vsync were trying to solve but still fell short?

Yes essentially they are saying that with this technology you can fluctuate between 30-60 and it wouldn't stutter. I want to see it in person.

Yeah, Linus' head about fricking exploded from excitement when he was talking about G-Sync. He hearts the frick out of Nvidia, so he reaction doesn't really surprise me.
