Have you installed the OS yet? If not, you need to do so.

Just randomly tried again before I take off for work. The back USBs work and provide power to my keyboard and mouse. I need to get the OS on a CD or something. The flash drive thing isn't working.
Everything seems ok so far. I don't think I did too bad. All my components are registering with the mother board. Yay and stuff

Did you set the USB drive as an active partition?

I just looked up a sample A+ test online to see how I'd do without studying. It was 80 questions long and I missed 9
But I'm curious. Has the real test been updated in the last 14 fricking years? The practice test I took asked an awful lot about floppy drives, 10Base-T, IDE, PATA, SCSI, single in-line memory, AGP, and referred to Pentium II and III as "today's processors."
Did you take the 701-702 or the 801-802. long story short the 800 series is the newer test. They try to cover some stuff a few years back so mine covers win xp, win vista, and win 7. The idea is that wherever you work make have some older and out of date stuff that still needs service. The book i'm studying from covered floppy drives but only to go over them, not in depth.

What's your graphics score in 3dmark 11? Want to see a comparison between my tahiti LE and normal 7870ghz

The back USB ports will always work at first. They're integrated into the motherboard. The case ports will probably need drivers installed for use.

Well that fricks me a lot. I had mine sold for $170 on Amazon the other day but I canceled the order because Early Curler told me he wanted it. He emailed me last night changing his mind saying his 430W power supply wouldn't run the card and his system. So not only do I take a hit to my seller score on Amazon for canceling that one guys order but that card is now on sale new on Newegg for the same price I had my used one sold for originally.

keep in mind the A+ is designed for entry level bench techs - knowledge of stuff like AGP graphics and PATA cables is still useful. its not a cutting edge test.
same goes for the Net+ exam.

Correct. The newer test actually doesn't cover windows 8 even because it came out after the test did. I did really well on the sample test I took before I started studying but The book i'm studying from does have a lot of stuff I don't know or have memorized. I'm going on the assumption that the test is much harder and specific than the practice tests

I'm considering the crossfire option again so which 7870 do you have? how much? new or used?

yeah OS really isnt important to the A+. if an employer was looking for a MS environment sys admin type position they would be looking for certs from MS.
IIRC, passing on CompTIA tests is 80%. you should be over 90% in your practice tests before you sit the exam.
Once you get your A+ i have several PDF format books on Net+, Sec+, CCENT, and CCNA if you need them.

I have the same one you have and it's only 2 months old. I used it for a month or so since I was using that 660 I had to test it out before reselling it and then I got this 7970 after that. early offered me $145 for it which is about what I would have gotten for it after fees on Amazon.
As bad as I would like to sell it, I will be honest and say you should spend the $15 extra and get a new one from Newegg. I put it back on Amazon and someone there will eventually overpay for it...hopefully.

Works for me, I can't make up my mind anyway.

Thanks, I am not sure my exact plan after A+ but I am sure it will involve studying for something.

Because you hate windows 8 or because you want them to take the time to figure it out?
