That shite has clogged my weedeater and edger. Had both repaired by different shops and they both said the ethanol is the culprit.
I cant imagine its ok for outboards is it?

I refuse to put it in mine

Only put non ethanol gas in boat motors.

There's only one station I know of on northshore that's ethanol-free and I will be going there exclusively from now on.

It's not as bad if you crank and run it on a regular basis. It still ain't good for the engines though.

doesn't Seafoam take care of that?
Posted on 3/28/13 at 12:18 pm to The Mick
Are you talking about gas mixed with up to 10% ethanol to reduce emissions or E85?
Posted on 3/28/13 at 12:19 pm to Lpmann3
Yea gas mixed with ethanol like from most gas stations.

a quick search of
boat info
also says Stabil is sufficient for treating outboards running on ethanol

If your boat has an outboard, isn't the gas tank removable? If so, take the fuel out of the tank and put it in your car and then fill up from scratch when you take the boat out next.
Seafoam is supposed to stabilize fuel, but I don't know what effect it has on ethanol.

ethanol is bad for fuel lines, especially if it sits, remove your fuel filter and look down inside the compartment where the fuel filter is held with a flashlight, if you see fingernail clippling-like objects down inside, that's the pieces of the lining of your fuel line.

I use ethanol laced gas, and it tore up my fuel lines in one boat. I am religious in my used of Stabil now and have had no issues in four years in new boat

Redfish Trading Co on Hwy 11 in Slidell? If not, now you know of 2 ethanol free stations on the Northshore.

Ethanol is bad enough for outboards to substantiate a class action lawsuit by motor manufacturers.
If you live on the Northshore, there are plenty of non-ethanol fuel stations. Look up real gas dot com. Basically every one in Madisonville is ethanol free.
Seafoam will not clean out clogged jets of a carburetor caused by ethanol gas. You have to do that yourself.
Stabil is a fuel stabilizer. It is meant to keep fuel/water from separating over a period of sitting. Doesn't work on ethanol unless they came out with a new blend.
Cranking it regularly gets the ethanol fuel moving, and stops it from ethanol-ing up your fuel system.
If I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times. DO NOT USE ETHANOL FUEL IN ANYTHING! If you do, you're probably the guy who keeps repair shops in business. Hell, you even get worse gas mileage and have less power in your vehicles. It is a sham done to prop up corn farmers.
Just for reference, how much did they charge you per engine to fix them?
I've done 30 or 40 motors that "don't work" as per the owners. 95% of those were ethanol related. The others were actually fun to fix, and a few were flat out gone.

If someone wants to look for that small engine repair guide I wrote a while back, sticky it. I ain't doing it because I know how to fix them and am on my phone.
Could save you a couple of hundred bucks.

Startron and Marine Stabil are really the only thing I trust to prevent phase separation in E10 fuel.
Seafoam is a good stabilizer and will remove carbon from internal engine parts.
BTW,I run E10 all.the time in my outboard and don't have any problems.

You also fish damn near every weekend. That's different than going once every couple of months, and letting it sit up all winter.
