I used XBMC for a while but I don't download a lot so I had little use for it. I stream almost everything and the apps they have for 1 channel and project free were pretty unreliable compared to going to the websites directly.
you could try xbmc with navi x. basically you can stream anything. I don't download or pirate stuff for a number of reasons.

As others have said, I don't miss having cable one bit. I still have internet through my cable provider and if I scan for channels on my tv with the same connection the internet is on I can get local channels and some spanish and home shopping channels like one above poster mentioned. I haven't used it all that much though. Honestly, I used to just mindlessly channel surf and I thought I would miss it but I don't.
that's what I was gonna use the mohu leaf or HD homerun for as early cuyler stated. Primarily will use it to catch HD broadcasts of football season and would be worth the 30-80 dollar one time investment.

I would love to do that but every site I check says I would have to get a huge roof mounted antenna to pick up anything. I'm about 50 miles from the nearest city that broadcasts all four networks. It sucks.
