Can a 6'5 player like McLemore or Oladipo play SF in today's NBA?

See them both as 2s. Would rather McElmore.

They're both twos. And honestly I'm not even sure if Oladipo is 6'5.

Probably not

But it has more to do with physicality and style of play more than height IMO

I think it's strictly height. Now most small forwards are 6'7 6'8 guys that can move.

There are 6'5" guys that are strong and physical enough to defend/block out 6'7"-6'9"

I just don't think those guys are

Would you see them guarding Lebron or DWade?

Answer this and you have your answer.

Do they play SF? And those 6'5 guys that guard the 6'8 SF are usually defensive specialists. I immediately thought of Tony Allen when you said that. And he plays a 2.

The question was can McEmore or Oladipo plays a SF. And no they can't. If they were 6'8 , they could. They have the tools and physicality to do it.

So if they can play SF would that effect that pick.

I just went through the top 20 or so SF in the league and only 2 were listed at 6'7 all the rest were 6'8 or taller. And the average weight is about 230. McLemore and Oladipo aren't anywhere close to that.

1. D Wade is a SG

2. No one can guard him

3. Oladipo could guard him as well as most SGs

at this point, they could be picking anywhere between 1 and 10.

but most SGs in the league have to guard D. Wade

...Oladipo would have to guard Wade.

Whether or not he can or could play SF or guard SFs regularly, I don't know. But I hope the Hornets get him. He's the best player to me.

what he was saying was, would he be guarding LeBron (a SF) or Wade (a SG)...and based off that, that would be the position VO would play.

at least, that's my guess as to what he was saying.

If you were drafting based on who could guard Lebron no one would get drafted.

I got you, but Lebron is the most extreme example...most physically dominating SF in the league, and no one can guard him.

...Could Oladipo guard other SFs in the league? I think so, at least sometimes.

If Rivers moves to PG full time (which I'm not necessarily buying), Dipo could play minutes at SG and SF.
