Ok, I've had this sawgrass thing in the corner of my yard since I moved in here and its been a pain in my arse.
I've sprayed it with chemicals, pours diesel (most success but not complete victory), oil, antifreeze and everything else I could thing of to kill it and in all honesty it just seemed to grow back stronger like a damn mutant.
The other day I spent the better part of 2 1/2 hours with the chainsaw, shovel and pick axe trying to get rid of it and this is what I got it down to after cutting it back about 3 ft. I never even know there were bricks down there until that day.
Any opinions on how to get rid of it? Should I just try burning it and replace the fence after or what? I'm all out of ideas at this point.

The blades of grass are razorblades and I would probably get sued for somebody getting cut and dying from infection.

Go get some "The Works" toilet bowl cleaner. It is like 20% HCl. Poured some on my grass 2yrs ago and it hasn't come back

I'm interested in the stump grinder idea though. Might give that a go if I can find one.

If 2,4D and Eraser mixed 2tbs per gallon each won't kill it get a chain and a truck and snatch it up. Probably some kinda ornamental grass or palm since it appears to have been bordered with bricks.

Chain, come along, and more elbow grease for the pick axe. Then more chemicals in the hole...

I would say kill it with fire, but I see the wooden fence.
Trim the pampas grass as close as you can. Spray what remains of the clump with a glyphosate-based herbicide. Wait a couple weeks for it to die. Dig out the dead pampas grass, or leave it in the ground to decompose.

Well My plans are to put a small outdoor shed in its place to hold my lawn equipment and free up some space in my garage.
Should I kill it with chemicals cocktails then try and pull it out? The root system is pretty intricate, rivals a palmetto bush, which the previous homeowner also had a fascination for.

If you can't drive your truck around your house you need a larger yard or a smaller house. How do you shoot your bow?Posted on 3/21/13 at 12:00 pm to 007mag

It make take a couple rounds of spraying if it is that well established. Eventually you will be able to dig it up.

Yeah I know. Wasn't my first choice but my job required I live in a certain area and there is no open wooded area around here.
One day I plan to move to NLA and chilax on some land.
