What does that have have to do with government enabling antihetero, antichurch gay activists?

I've started opposing it after getting fed up with gay activists pressuring businesses to fire those who don't have their views.

I hope they are never able to get married.

If a twelve year old Christian child had written Obama and begged him to shy away from advancing gay marriage as a platform, would that have tugged on your heart strings as well Toddy?

I'm not saying that Roberts will respond, ALTHOUGH Sotomayor did respond to a gay marriage letter written by a kid to her (albeit a generic response). I certainly don't expect him to. If anything, this video highlights how these gay marriage bans are affecting real people, and are affecting real families. There are two million kids being raised by gay couples in this country.

The vitriolic response to the OP is digusting, even if not surprising. I, for one, do care how our discriminatory treatment of gays affects children in same-sex couple families.

Compared to hunger, the world economy sure. But not being able to marry someone you love i a pretty big deal to the people it effects.

I think it sucks that these issues make people on isse voters, but how do you not care about something that immediately effects your happiness.

Here's the way I see it... anybody who makes it a point to be so conspicuously and haughtily anti-gay is trying real hard to impress heterosexual men... "hey look, he's so gay! Ain't I bad and straight?" What's true of Fred Phelps is true of many on this board. They're not what they boast to be.

kid asks John Roberts to make the right decision

Ideally, no one should try to influence the decision of a court. Courts are there to be dispassionate and impartial, to apply the law, consider the evidence, weigh the validity of the arguments and render a just decision.

Unfortunately, we don't live in an ideal world. Practically every day there are people demonstrating in front of the Supreme Court building about abortion, gay marriage, political contributions, taking of land by public bodies, Obamacare, and the list goes on and on.

If all those demonstrators can do all of that, and politicians can criticize and try to influence judges to do what they want, it hardly seems to matter that some kid wants to do the same thing.

It would be nice if no one did this kind of thing, but c'est la vie.

This exploitation of using kids to push an agenda is really getting old.

And WBC act like idiots because they're Christians and that's what Christians do, right? One homosexual represents them all, so one Christian represents them all, right?

ETA: let me make clear that I'm not comparing Toddy to WBC, just pointing out Revelator's continuing double standard of blaming every action of every gay person on all of them, while absolving himself and other Christians of the crazy shite some of their people do.

I have no issues with gay people, and personally, up until this week, I supported gay marriage.

I'm just tired of seeing activist groups pressure companies into firing people or shelving products because the person is against gay marriage.

I've said many times before that they are going about this all wrong. Their methods result in resentment and fear, not acceptance. All it does is silence people's opinions while they are forced to lie to society in order to not be branded a bigot. The same thing is seen with racism.

I've had enough.

the big gay machine is really, really fricking annoying

one huge part about the gay movement that i absolutely detest is when gays act flamboyant for attention (but they say it's attention for the cause), and then act shocked when normal people don't accept that....wasn't that the point?

Yeah, one examle is gay groups pressuring DC comics to fire writer Orson Scott Card because he opposes gay marriage.

Card writes about Superman FWIW. DC comics should tell the gay groups to frick off.

It really is infuriating at times. How many times have you found yourself clarifying a position on here or in real life?

For example, "I'm not against gay marriage, but.." or "I have no problem with black people, but..."

I've noticed myself doing it.

Why do we do that? It is because being labeled a bigot or a racist in society is life ender. It is a label that is permanently placed on you, no matter if there is any truth behind it. It is damaging socially and has the potential to damage job potential.

That is what comes from these tactics. People are afraid of saying something because they fear the backlash. All that does is create an even greater rift between groups and thus results in one group resenting another.

It is fricking pathetic.

I happen to be a comic book fan and I really like Card's work.

It pisses me off at how these gay activists are trying to interfere with a business's decisions and how they are run because one of their employees doesn't support their personal choices. For a group that wants freedom so badly, that is anti-freedom.

You don't like it, don't buy a DC Comics product.

that's the goal if you can't fight the fight, intellectually

hence why we're talking about some insignificant 12 year old playing to emotional thinking, and being celebrated by that group

welcome to progressivism

they don't want freedom. they want the ability to hold their own views, and to silence everyone else

they just disguise their emotional social issues under the guise of freedom, but by their very arguments, they are anti-freedom

Yep, it isn't acceptance at all. It is silencing of dissenting opinions.
