Hebert guns fixed mine. Ive heard they have a pretty good gunsmith there so not sure if I will bring it in the woods again or not.

I would bet the US DOD does their research on what weapons best fit their needs, and the snipers do have a little input on their equipment. Not sure how SWAT snipers get their equipment, but I've never seen one with a brand other than Remington.

Look, I'm not saying it's a bad gun, but those older ones should be treated with extra caution because this flaw did exist. It's stupid to bury your head in the sand and act like it's not a problem. Can its effects be mitigated? Yes, but to ignore it is asking for trouble.

Just talked to my dad. Said the day he brought the 700 to the gunsmith every time he closed the bolt the gun would dry fire. He talked to the gunsmith and the trigger was real dirty and gummed up. Gunsmith said it was the cause of the safety malfunction, soft strikes on the bullets, and the misfires / dryfire issue.

LOL the improvements are not safety related. It now has a crisper break and an external adjustment like much more expensive aftermarket triggers.
There was nothing wrong with the original triggers. In order to make them frick up you had to have dismantled the thing and fricked it up. Sorry, but if you've gone to that kind of trouble, how exactly is that the manufacturers fault?
I suspect part of the reason for putting the new triggers with an external adjusting screw was so they could keep morons out of the guts of the thing. Now you don't have to open it up and do something dangerous to your gun. You just turn the screw. But you don't actually need to for a hunting rifle since they have it set just about perfect right out the box.

Remington is either the largest or second largest gun maker in the country.
They produce the most popular shotgun ever made,
and possibly the most popular sporting rifle ever made.
If CNBC can help put a bad spin on them, and lawsuits can take them down, then theres no stopping lawsuits from taking down other smaller gun makers.
That's my view of the situation.
A gun can't hit what it's not pointed at. Not the guns fault!
They produce the most popular shotgun ever made,
and possibly the most popular sporting rifle ever made.
If CNBC can help put a bad spin on them, and lawsuits can take them down, then theres no stopping lawsuits from taking down other smaller gun makers.

Yea I've seen it. Can't recall what model it is but it's one I the high end target models with the light accutrigger. Very sweet rifle. Not sure what all he's had done to it. I doubt it's a straight off the rack rifle because its set up for 800 yards IIRC.

Bump
Took the gun apart myself and the entire trigger mech was pretty gummed up. Before I took it apart I dry fired it a few times and the bolt would slowly depress until fire. After a quick brushing off I tried it again and it worked fine. I will clean it really well this week and see how it goes

Mine is 24 yrs old and the only problem I've ever had with it is that it kills too many deer.

Mine has laid down some meat too. After the cleaning I will take it to the range to verify. Still probably going to bowhunt mostly
