ESPN's Adam Schefter reported on NFL Live that Aaron Rodgers' impending extension with the Packers is expected to be worth over $100 million across four years.

"This is a very simple deal to do for Aaron Rodgers," said Schefter. "There are many people around the league who are expecting a four-year, $25-plus million extension a year. ... That's how that deal is going to come down when it comes down."

Schefter confirmed the Packers have been preparing to complete the new deal this offseason, sitting on their salary cap space to lock up Rodgers through age 35. Rodgers is 29 years old. His current deal has two years left.

Well, he is the best QB in the NFL. If anyone deserves $25 million, it's Aaron Rodgers.

just sign a bobby bonilla deal

After a subpar season in 1999. The Mets released Bonilla, but still owed him $5.9 million. The team had to get him off their book in order to sign another player, so they worked out a deal: If Bonilla would defer payment for a decade, they'd pay him an annuity worth far more than the $5.9 million. Bonilla accepted the offer resulting in an annual paycheck of $1.19 million starting in 2011 and will last until 2035.

Key word is extension, though. He has 2 years remaining (with very reasonable cap hits around $12m) they'll be able to spread 33% of the signing bonus across. It would essentially be a ~6yr/$125m contract, which is just slightly over what Flacco and Brees got.

Aw damn.

Guess Matt Ryan is going to get somewhere near that kind of cash.

Gonna be tough. But we can handle it. Gotta secure the top Qbs with what they want.

Every time QB contract threads come up on this board, Saints fans always make them crash and burn. Get over your obsession with the Falcons.
