You do realize that Muncie had some kind of illness and he kept losing weight. I don't know if he was 200 pounds by season end.

I'd be surprised if Welter ends up starting. Having said that, I think it says something that he backed up Minter in Atlanta, and not one of the freshmen.
Maybe they wanted to get him game reps to evaluate him vs. the freshmen going forward.

looks like welter will get his shot at starting ,but chavis will move a couple guys to middle,whoever starts i trust the man getting paid to make those decisions...there is too much talent at lb we will be ok...as for welter he may be ready to step up.

Good question. I don't know the answer to that to be honest. What's interesting is, for much of the season, there was a reluctance to spell Minter with a backup -- remember how many snaps he played against Florida before he started cramping? -- but Welter played normal backup snaps in the bowl game.
They have a ton of LB talent, but Alexander, Louis and Jones all seem more like OLBs than MLBs to me. Maybe that won't be the case any more this year.
