I think what the problem is, is the exact position

I feel that Chavis wants to keep him on the outside if at all possible. So who do we have at MLB then?
Freshman with little experience and Welter. Honestly , it is hard to replace Minter. We clearly did not have a good backup with his kind of skill or weight.

Personally, I think Jones starts at an OLB position for at least a few games in 2013, then full time in 2014.
Stud. Problem with him is he's an outside LB type, as are most of LSU's LBs.

I dont think anyone is bashing Chavis for giving him a shot. Because that is all that is going on right now.
The argument in this thread has stemmed from whether some people think he has staying power at the position, as opposed to those who do not.

Minter went from splitting time with Karnell Hatcher (in Hatcher's first year playing linebacker) to a 1st round possibility.

Mr. Welter I do wish your son the best in competing for the starting job. I would expect Miles to give Welter the first crack at it as an upperclassman. If Welter isn't good enough he won't be there too long. When the Chief starts raving about Welter during regular season play I will take notice.

I can't figure out if you guys are serious about all this Welter stuff or just joking. Anyway let's book mark it and see what happens in a few months. If by chance Welter is the best we have at MLB then we are in bad shape there.
