Chicago fans booed him because he couldn't catch.

I know, which is why I said if he improves on catching. Plus, we wouldnt sign him to be a key pass catcher. Hes a great blocker, which is what we want. Also in 4 seasons hes only had 95 targets. Small sample size. Not saying he has great hands or anything like that because he doesnt. But, if he can improve he could become somewhat of a target.

Id like to just give Higgins a chance too.

6th year player but if he signs for the vet minimum he only counts against the cap as much as a 2nd year player making the minimum salary ($550k), so he'll only barely be more expensive than a late draft pick (except to Benson's wallet).

I think they draft a more versatile TE H-back type like Thomas was. There are some mid rounders that might actually be used in dual TE formations with them both as threats.

Payton has always liked having a blocker only type TE on the roster. For that with only upside in catching possible, Davis wouldn't be bad. He actually could be one of those type players that steps up a level or two and the former team's fans are scratching their heads WTF?!

Agree. Every year it seems that I hear about how good this kid can be and how he has all the tools to be a great NFL TE, just hasnt put up the receiving #s yet. And that could be because of multiple factors. Scheme, QB, Marshall gets 20 targets a game, or because he might not be an elite pass catching TE. And thats fine with me since we already have an elite pass catching TE.

Me neither, he could yield a nice contract from another team.

Probably the best WR available right now in FA
