Mett "capsule" description of Tiger Offense under Cam...

"We'll be a no huddle team with a pound the ball (attitude) and a vertical passing game...a lot like the Ravens were."
Interesting quote, LSU ran some hurry up offense last year & was successful with it. The only thing that worries menabout this up tempo approach is if the offense doesn't make first downs-which was a major problem last year-you force your defense back on the field without much rest-which was a major problem last year.
Alfred Blue went on to second Mett's up-tempo assessment by saying Coach Stud was more slow paced w some up tempo stuff saved for the end of practice but Coach Cam has them running up tempo all the way through.
It'll be interesting to see how this face pace works & to see tje development of the vertical passing game. Also interested to see how the fast pace will effect clock management.
Cameron wants quicker pace

Switchin up the gears, I like it. Seems to work for a lot of teams...

Mett's going to have to pull it togther.....he definitely seemed like a cat who favors a more deliberate pace on offense. Of course that could just be his inexperience showing last year.
Hey I'm ready for it.....bring it on.

By having them run fast paced, up tempo offense the entire time in practice, the game will begin to slow down for them and they will make less mistakes.
This pumps be up sooo much.

up tempo works better in college than the NFL. those 2-3 yard quick handoffs become 4-6 yarders as the game progresses. It also prevents teams from blitzing as much.

I think thats gonna work perfectly

And it prevents Saban from being able to get cute with the defense and his disguised blitzes. If he does bring a disguised blitz, it becomes more of a gamble than a weapon with up tempo.
That's why it worked well when LSU did that against Bama the previous two years.

I can't wait to hear everyone's thoughts when LSU has its first 3 and out next season.

Any word on the short side option?

It wont be much of a problem for resting the defense because if you remember last year, you dont start the no huddle until you get a first down. A sprinkling of no huddle will be nice but we arent going to turn into Oregon next season.

interesting also because I thought one of the knocks on Cam/ reasons cited for the Ravens offense looking better after he left was increased use of no huddle under Caldwell. and that they went downfield more.

We don't need to turn into Oregon.

A coordinator that is willing to learn from his mistakes and get better is the kind of coordinator I would want.

This. We needed a jolt in the arm on offense and all initial reports from Cam indicate that's exactly what he's providing

I don't know about all that. Our version of the "hurry up" last year was after a 1st down play, hurry up to the line and hand off for an inside run. It was pretty predictable and ineffective for the most part IMO. Although I have a feeling Cameron will bring a much better version of it to the table.
