My beliefs as an American and my beliefs as a Christian are different.
As a Christian, do I think homosexuality is wrong? Yes
As an American, do I believe homos have the right to homo? Yes
Do I go out of my way to support the gay community? No
Do I go out of my way to stop them from doing gay things? No
They don't have to match up. It's called tolerance and is one of the main reasons people came to America in the first place.

It can't. So why have we no such standards? Probably because our society is inundated with religion, which of course precludes any possibility of distinguishing good from bad since it only focuses on trying to figure out what God wants, regardless of the nature of the acts themselves.
So, in a religious society, going on a crusade to murder thousands of innocent people is perfectly fine if you think God wants you to do it; tying a woman to a post and setting her on fire is A-OK if you think God wants you to do it; torturing people in an inquisition makes you a hero if you think God wants you to do it. There's really no act that could possibly be wrong in a religious society if the person believes God wants them to do it, and therefore no possibility of any moral standards in such a society. So, if a society has no moral standards, the proper place to look for a cause of that might be the pervasive institution that prohibits its adherents from having any.

A Christian is a follower of Christ who said," if you love me, follow my commandments". How can you follow Christ if you choose to ignore things that clearly conflict with his teachings for the cause of being American or tolerant? Is your allegiance to America above yours to God?

I would like to live in a society with citizens that have principles. Not a society where people bend over backwards for the sake of tolerance to accept things that are detrimental to the whole. I'd like to live in a society where politicians said what they truly believed and wouldn't retract it later by saying ," it was taken out of context", to cover their hides. And where politicians don't vote," present" on issues because they are afraid to be nailed down to one position in controversial matters. I'd like to live in a society where people had the intestinal fortitude to at least stand up for what they believed to be right and not just stuck their fingers in the air to test which way to lean.
