Top 11 Free Agency Spending Teams 2013 pt.2

Note: This list shows the total contract worth for each player, not guaranteed money, and the sum of those contracts to represent how much money each team was willing to commit to the future.
Here's a link to part 1.
5. Cleveland Browns: $77.8M
a. Paul Kruger ($41M), Desmond Bryant ($34M), Quentin Groves ($2.8)
b. Analysis: Paul Kruger is a little overrated at this point because he hasn’t started a lot of games or done much until this season, but I like this deal for the Browns and I really believe he can be a difference maker. Bryant’s contract is a little big for my taste, especially considering he hasn’t played in a 3-4 before, but he does have the style and size to potentially be very good. Groves is a great deal as he knows Ray Horton’s system.
c. Grade: B
6. Detroit Lions: +$75.5M
a. Glover Quin ($25M), Chris Houston ($25M), Reggie Bush ($16M), Jason Jones ($9.5M), Deandre Levy (undisclosed)
b. Analysis: Glover Quin struggled a bit last year in coverage, but I think it’s an aberration since he’s been pretty solid throughout his career. I’m glad he didn’t demand big money because I think Detroit nailed his value. Houston is paid like a No. 1 corner, but his game suits that of a No. 2. Either way, the Lions had to hold on to him, and didn’t overspend too much to do so. Reggie gets a great deal too, and an opportunity to be a major weapon again. Jason Jones is versatile and cheaper than the departed Sammie Lee Hill. Deandre Levy is also solid. Lions did a good job filling needs and keeping contracts very manageable.
c. Grade: B+
7. Atlanta Falcons: $71M
a. Sam Baker ($41.5M), William Moore ($30M)
b. Analysis: Sam Baker is getting overpaid because he’s not special. He’s definitely better than Bushrod, but I’m still not sure he’s earned that kind of money for being a mostly bad and injury riddled player. Moore is injury prone too, but his deal is still a fair one for both sides. The Falcons may also bring back Tony Gonzales and Brent Grimes, but right now it appears their plans for improving revolve around keeping their guys and drafting for need.
c. Grade: B-
8. Chicago Bears: $56M
a. Jermon Bushrod ($36M), Martellus Bennett ($20M)
b. Analysis: The money for Bushrod is laughable and we all know why. Bushrod is a very pedestrian player, and nowhere near being worth that. The Bears must have just taken Aaron Kromer’s word for him rather than watch some tape. Bennett is a good player with upside still, but he’s a bit of a head case and may never put it together. His contract is also a little too high.
c. Grade: D
9. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: $44.25M
a. Dashon Goldson ($41.25M), Jonathan Casillas ($3M)
b. Analysis: Goldson is a great safety. He’s a bone-crushing hitter and even better coverage player. Only the Bucs didn’t need another safety, especially when they have Mark Barron. They’re probably not done spending, but their cornerback position is pretty barren, and they still have no pass rushers. It doesn’t matter who is in the secondary if you have no one to rush Drew Brees, Cam Newton, or Matt Ryan. Casillas is a low risk move, mostly incentive based deal, so it doesn’t really affect the grade.
c. Grade: C+
10. Denver Broncos: +$35.5M
a. Louis Vasquez ($23.5M), Wes Welker ($12M), Terrance Knighton, Kevin Vickerson, Stewart Bradley (all undisclosed)
b. Analysis: The Broncos have done well. Not expected to be huge players in free agency, they have made some moves that indicate they are ready to win now. Vasquez comes at a great rate from division rival San Diego, and will improve Peyton Manning’s chances of staying upright. Wes Welker is an absolute steal so long as he doesn’t hit some sort of wall next season. Knighton may be able to get back to where he was a few years ago now that he’s reunited with Jack Del Rio. Vickerson and Bradley are also likely low cost depth pieces. They still need a cornerback though. Scratch that, they just signed Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie to a one year deal. Great move.
c. Grade: A+ previously A-
11. St. Louis Rams: $35M
a. Jared Cook ($35M)
b. Analysis: I don’t understand the hype behind Jared Cook. He’s a big guy that can run fast, and that’s about all he has proven thus far in his career. It’s one thing to be a great athlete, but an entirely different thing to be a great football player which Cook probably won’t ever be. The Rams are also in the running for Jake Long, a signing that could go a very long way in the development of Sam Bradford and perhaps Jared Cook. We’ll see.

Blues would have complete player bios including a random factoid connecting them to their current team.

How am I supposed to beat a criminal? Clearly the odds are stacked against me.
