but with the ACA, we all could/will end up paying for the poor decisions of everyone else.

You'll always pay for the actions of others. No need to ban sugary stuff.

1. No you aren't.
2. We don't have those.

Then we become accountable for their health care expenses because of their health problems.
This is the problem in need of reform.

In light of the decision I say just tax the F out of fast food and soft drinks.

Because you don't support anything that resembles a free market.

Um. You most certainly already pay for those poor decisions. Difference is that they receive sub-standard care from only being allowed to go to the ER AND it's more expensive for the people who foot the bill (taxpayers).

Yeah, subsidizing health "insurance" for about a third of the nation is really going to help that out. Good thinking.

I'm not sure what's scarier, that we have people like Bloomberg that try to make decisions for our citizens, or that there are actually people in our country incapable of making those decisions

Good luck with it. Everyone should try it out at least once. Not a whole lot of wild places left. Where is it at?

Anyone who thinks they have to make decisions for the population on something so trivial is to be feared.

A logical person would just suggest that we stop being responsible for other people's healthcare. Congrats.

This is the part of his statement that was so awesome. Unfortunately I am afraid he was being serious, though it reads like someone trying to be sarcastic.

If this line of stupid thinking is going to be the rule, where the frick does it end?

Tax the frick out of skateboards? Those guys are FAR more likely to make an ER visit than most folks.

Hell, tax the frick out of almost anything that leads to more injuries. But wait, that's shite that typically happens with active people who may be more healthy overall!

frick. What to do?

NOTHING is single variable in health short of a gunshot to the head. You might have a guy whose only real vice is to drink a large soda a few times a week. Other than that, he may eat generally healthy and exercise.

But, regardless. Do you just hit EVERY food that aint great for you with huge taxes? Potato chips? White bread? Red Meat? and on and on.

I mean, do you realize how few things that people eat on a daily basis have completely clean slates when it comes to studies on health?

They are trying to legislate away natural selection. Phuck that.

The problem with this thought process is that improvements in medicine will keep the fat bastards alive.

In any case, I don't see the point in the outcry for limiting portions.

I love how everyone here is cheering our freedom to drink all of the incredibly subsidized, leading contributor to chronic disease, that which said disease's longterm treatments are further subsidized by our government sugar water we can handle. Only in the good ol'

The government already pays for these sodas. Subsidizing Monsanto for the GE corn, then the framers who grow it. Then ADM.
So that after many years of drinking that sugar water and eating equally shitty solid foods, Medicare can pick up the tab for the accumulated diabetes, obesity, heart disease, and neurological problems that follow..........but hey, sundrop is totally worth it.
