If he is, in fact, 1st round talent, what makes you think he will be there in the 3rd?

Because of his character issues. A lot of experts will tell you that he is a first round talent plus also he was a little inconsistent

He played a lot better than Jenkins, and I would love to have him back. He has to be affordable for us, plain and simple

I could say the same thing about Mathieu and would just be another LSU bandwagoner

This is what I was looking for. I have heard him name hear multiple times, but I know nothing about him other than he played at Georgia.

Laron Landry
If we want a guy who can play like a LB, but can't cover, why not cut Harper and sign Landry. He has always been asked to do too much in the NFL, except for when he played with Sean Taylor. Those guys were great together for the little time they were together because it allowed Landry to do what he should be doing. Put him in the role people are expecting Harper to play in the new defense and I think he could shine. But of course, I'm obviously not objective on this one.

Problem with the fa list is most of those guys are fs
Goldson could make the switch to strong safety. Both 49er's safeties liked to come down and hit people.

I actually named him as one of the few free safeties that could play box safety in another thread. Him and Landry are the only 2 on this list I think could be more effective than Harper. Question is price. Landry could be cheap but he has the same liability as Harper. Goldson will likely be out of our range.
