A-Ha - their "one hit" was " Take on Me" but the "other" single they had that charted was a much better song imho.

The Sun Always Shines on TV is a much better song than Take On Me.

People call Blind Melon one hit wonders. They had 2 stellar albums and another that didn't get polished.

Although The La's were really only known for the one hit "There She Goes," on these shores, they're debut record as a whole is fantastic... a pop masterpiece!

Timeless Melody

Unfortunately, that's the only one they ever recorded...

Marcy Playground
Wave Motion Gun

I hated Sex and Candy when it came out. It took a couple of years later and seeing them live at Endfest to get me to dig them.

I love that one.

Kinda like Big Country's "Look Away" is much better than "In A Big Country" IMO.

ETA:

Heeeeeeey. I'm not the only one. Tidehater.

agreed.
I could on and on about one hit wonder bands. Bobby McFerrin has like fifteen grammys for gospel but is only known for his Dont Worry Be Happy song.

This, if Shannon Hoon were still around things would be awesome.

Here's one that I don't think has ever been mentioned: Inspiral Carpets.

Best known for Two Worlds Collide.

They had a couple of really good albums. All with that dark post-Manchester vibe.

My favorite of theirs: Bitches Brew Live version HERE.
