MLB The Show 13 opinion after a few games

I'm disappointed. If Road to the Show is your thing, ask yourself if you enjoy the commentary and play by play before you buy this game.
If you own The Show 12, pop it in, turn off the commentary and try to play a handful of games. If you feel like youre playing baseball in a vacuum, MLB The Show 13 isn't for you.
Being a fielder it doesn't get stale as fast, but it still gets stale, again, if the commentary is something that is in some form even a slight entertainment while you play.
I love to pitch. Every year I probably max out and go 5 seasons deep into the majors with a starting pitcher and a closer. They took commentary and play by play out of Road to the Show so it would have a realistic feel when youre on the field...thats fine and all, but there's no option to turn it ON.
Im 4 games into my first minor league season as a starting pitcher and I think its about to put me to sleep hearing NOTHING while I'm going 6+ innings a game other than crowd reactions and the usual sound effects.
Granted, I haven't dove into diamond dynasty yet or tried anything online at all, but after 4 games of playing what sounded like I was playing baseball on a golf course, I've already lost motivation to keep going. I almost feel required to play a different game mode just so it has an enjoyable audio experience.
Oh...and they removed the commentary for a realistic game experience, but I can turn on the game soundtrack and instead just blast their game soundtrack instead....because thats even MORE realistic right?...like my dude is jammin on his iPod on the field or something.
*sigh*...

For the record though, I knew that the commentary would be "off".
But I had read that it was speculated that the "off" setting was simply a default set to off and turning it back on was actually possible by manipulating the audio settings. This seems not to be the case.
So I did research the shite out of this game before I threw money at Gamestop today.

I thought the RTTS commentary was still there for player specific plays?
That's what I read at least, only comments involving your player are announced.
You're getting nothing at all, all game?

What does playing in a vacuum mean?

Its not there during the game at all.
You get pregame commentary and post game commentary.
Because that makes your experience even that more real...because before the game you're "warming up" and after the game your guy is in the "locker room" lol..
The commentators say not a single word from first pitch to last out. Its the most audible repetitive abortion I have subjected myself to in a video game ever.
And this is coming from a guy who bought a PS3 for The Show. I own no other PS3 games except MLB the Show 09 through 13...

Like a closed room with no sound. Dead space. Uninteresting. Dead. Space.
There's no commentary to add one shred of audible variety.

I like doing myplayer modes but always find franchise modes more fun. I just got my ps3 with the show tonight and so far I'm loving it. Started a franchise with houston, try playing 2k baseball for a little while, you will never complain about the show again

SO your entire basis on probably the greatest sports franchise out there is because of one game mode?
You need to play every other mode to really see how great this game is. Wait until Operation Sports finishes their Full minors rosters, and then get into a Franchise. The things they've added to franchise this year is simply incredible.
Yea, the no commentary thing sucks, but it's really NOT that bad.

I understand his complaint. Some people prefer the RPG aspects of these newer sports games and that is fine.
Commentary should be in the game.

Announcers get annoying as frick to me and I end up shutting them off even for regular games within a month of getting the game every year.
RTTS they are even more repetitive and annoying, doesn't bother me a bit, usually upload a custom soundtrack and play it in the background anyways.

Anyone else have issues in draft mode? When I go to select a player, there's nothing. Maybe it doesn't want me playing as the Astros.

The flyover animation is more annoying than anything to me. And some of the camera angles after a ball hit in the air.
I tried franchise last night and have no fricking clue what I had to do

During the play they don't say anything, but they do after some plays. And I turn on pandora, mute the tv, and have a good time playing. And I'm a 2nd baseman and love how it gets harder each level you go up and it takes more skill to catch the ball and throw it. I'm going to make a pitcher soon

The lack of commentary is my only complaint. Hearing matty V talk about how great your player is is half the fun. I'm still going to play the shite out of this game.
