Doesn't SF stand for Shooting forward? Uh, I don't think Shooting is his strong suit.

He's shooting the corner 3 at 64% this year, better than anyone else on the team, and his overall 3P% has gone from 31.9% last year to 35.6% this year. If he can keep improving he might become a useful off ball player.

I don't think Vasquez would be the starting SF in this case, I think it'd just be a place to get him more minutes so he could be your back up PG but still get enough minutes to keep him happy as a 6th or 7th man. As long as there isn't a stud SF you could let Vasquez guard the 3rd worst perimeter player assuming your PG upgrade is good on defense. It's not much different than the SF minutes Roger Mason Jr. gets.

It's very different. Mason doesn't need the ball in his hands 48 minutes a game, he atleast can be a decent spot up shooter. Vasquez has absolutely no idea what to do when he doesn't have the ball. Go back and watch his movement (or lack thereof) on any possession that has Gordon taking the ball up.

Vasquez' best qualities are his court vision and passing. Playing him at the 3 at any time would make him nearly worthless other than the fact it would give us 5 warm bodies on the floor.

Like I said, if it gets to the point where we can't pull anybody that can play the 3 off the bench over Vasquez, we need to clean house.

I small forward who is usually a scorer is my point, beautiful! That's what this team needs.

No, that wasn't your point.

In essence, I'm wrong. It does mean small forward. But my point was we need a scorer, a shooter, at the 3. Vasquez can't shoot. But hey, sometimes you can't escape the Chalmette High curse.

Part of why I'm looking for the Chalk Talk is to get clarification on the comments. I would think that it's likely an upgrade at PG involves moving Vasquez but Demps would never say that before making the move. Saying you want to upgrade Vasquez but still keep him is really the only thing that could be said if you're going to admit you need a PG upgrade.

For the record, he does not speak for all of us who attended Chalmette High.

I don't think jester is wrong in saying gravy is a good player. Now if he's claiming him to be top 5...don't agree with him.

But most.people who like gravy ate open to upgrade but we think there are other parts worse off than pg.
Like a 3 or a 2 who isn't a horrendous shooter and can't score in 4th qtrs

I was at a chalk talk a couple of weeks ago a Sunday before the Kings game. He said he likes the 4 bigs we have (Lopez, AD, Smiht, and Ryno) and that they give us alot of offensive fleibility. He said in free agency we'd be looking at guards and wing players and of the teams with money to spend in free agency, we're one of only a couple of teams looking to upgrade in that area. Most of the teams active in free agency will be looking for bigs, and with the young and talented nucleus we have, we should be able to attract talent here.

Alot of people were complaining about Lopez (who Demps said has outperformed what he expected to get from Lopez) and AD (who Demps said is young, is learning, and the franchise hopes he grows into a Duncan/Chandler type player. Several of the questions were in reference to the franchise letting Chandler get away and how/when will the Hornets get a player like him).

He said they're talking to the trainers who helped KG put on 20 lbs. and are trying to do that with AD. They said AD runs so much and his metabolism is so high, when they get him to add 5 lbs., it is usually gone in 2-3 days.

he refused to name any specific players (mentioned some rule about not being able to discuss players currently on other teams we would be targeting as they are currently under contract but they are aware of who are FAs and who is likely to test the market of the FAs). He said there were a number of guards/perimeter players available but only a couple of teams having the money to go after them in FA. I think we were one of 3 teams he mentioned seeking guards in the FA market with cap room to spend, as opposed to several teams who are settled at the guard position who have money to spend in FA but are looking at picking up bigs, who are scarce in this FA class.

Also mentioned GV flew to Vegas on his own dime and hung with Monty and Demps during the games to watch the younger players, evaluate them, and see how the fit in with the Hornets. A couple games into the Vegas season, GV started working with and coaching up the younger guys. Demps praised GV's leadership; also said GV was in Nola working out with Monty and the staff through the offseason to improve. Said GV had the leadership and work ethic the Hornet organization looks for and hopes he'll be with the team for a while.

someone specifically mentioned CP3 (half jokingly, half serious), and he just said next question and picked someone else to ask a question.

well I figure he either refused to answer as 1. he is not allowed to per league rules 2. he knows we'll seek CP3 in FA and didn't want to start a wildfire story/twitter rumor on it or 3. refused to acknowledge as CP3's boat here has sailed and the organization wouldn't have him back as CP3 bailed on them when they needed him most and were offering him max money.

I would love to have cp3 back but in all honesty if I were him there is no way I would leave the spotlights of LA and a contender to come to a rebuilder with worst attendance in the league

a contender

he has in LA the exact same thing he had here with Chandler and West....nothing more and nothing less. I could see them in a good year getting to the WCF, but don't see them getting to the Finals. I think in their best season, they'll be a #2 seed but get bounced in the second round.
