The issue really is the media not calling them on it. The situation was plain as day. The year before the lockout the owners were supposedly setting up for a large market vs. small market showdown over revenue sharing. No mention of players making too much money. Fast forward to the lockout and player salaries are so out of control that we might need to start playing 18 games a year. The solved their inter owner problem by revenue sharing the players piece of the pie.

These fricking owners you defend wouldn't piss on on you if you were on fire. They would have you killed if they knew they could get away with it and could generate a profit from it. But hey--this is America and our only priority is the profit margin, right?
It's the NFL, not the Red Cross. Also, whether an NFL owner wants to pee on me if I'm on fire has nothing to do with business. He has investors/shareholders to look out for.

Any time anyone ever believes an owner about finances, they should be kicked in the head. I wouldn't care if it was just a dispute with the players, but the owners then cry poverty when they extort cities for free stadiums and absurd tax breaks which cost taxpayers millions, and even billions.

what about all the former players raising lawsuits, 99% of which are full of shite and just trying to make a buck cause they blew through the millions they made? They have kickers in the class action suits.

The funniest part of all of this is that these owners use corporate welfare to built their stadiums
It's not welfare, it's the free market. If your city won't pay for a team, another city is willing. Stadiums are part of the cost of your city having an NFL franchise. The owners are in the position of power here. The NFL is so marketable there are other cities willing to pay if your city won't. That's just capitalism, and smart business by the owners. The city/ state could always just say no, use your own profits, but then the team will just move to a city that will pay.

No, it's corporate welfare. It's government handing out tax dollars.

they don't have to... of course then either you get no team or the one you do have leaves, but that's the city's choice

You think former players are making up their injuries? 99% of them? Ummm... ok. You're wrong, but even if you weren't, so what? Players who brought a groundless suit would then get thrown out of court. Are you suggesting that players should not be allowed to freely avail themselves of the justice system to seek compensation for harm? So now we have to give owners free stadiums, millions in tax breaks, use of public utilities/services for next to nothing, and NOW they should be immune from lawsuits? I'm gonna vote no.

I think these pro-owner fanboys feel the way they do because deep down they feel that might makes right. They feel that if you have money, that makes you a good person and thus you are above reproach. One of them essentially said as much on the previous page.

I just think that they have the attitude that ANYTHING is justified if it helps the bottom line, and that's just plain sad, pathological behavior.

You better toughen up if you ever want to negotiate a contract when you get out of school.

You mad about 8 percent return? Judicial interest was higher than that 7 out of the last 20 years. Stop whining and calling people names if you don't understand simple math.

What does that have to do with ROI? If he invested 206MM in an asset in 1993, and that asset is now worth $1B. He got an 8.2% rate of return.

I'm not mad about anything. You're the one who's losing control here. The owners are profitable when they claimed they weren't. People like you excuse that behavior for some reason.
