Best place for some good boiled crawfish in NOLA's CBD/FQ? Unrelated, Arnauds?

Preferably, a place to eat them, not just to buy to go.
Unrelated, I liked to hear why the F&D board hates Arnaud's. If you don't, anything in particular that is a must have for dinner there?

I would get out the CBD/FQ for crawfish. If you must try Vieux Carre Seafood.

How far, and where specifically?

I'm not sure I've seen that everyone hate them. Just seems to be the general consensus that there are about 30 or so restaurants in the city that are better.
I do know that their main bartender is very good and has a great cocktail program.

Castnet seafood in the east
Kenner seafood in kennahbrah
I rarely go to sit down places for crawfish.

Typically, I wouldn't either, but I figured a tourist area would have a reasonable place. Thanks for the suggestions, but I'm not driving that far for some.

Then go to Vieux Carre Seafood or Sometin Else Cafe. Same people good option for the FQ.

Arnaud's is alright. I like their Remoulade outpost better. Cheaper and food is just as mediocre to good. The main restaurant is too stiff for me with the stiff waitstaff and the frickin band. Newsflash: I don't want a band stand over my table playing music while I'm eating. Awkward as shite.
And don't get boiled crawfish in the FQ. Going to be very expensive. Pick them up from Big Fisherman and eat them off the premises, or drive to Harahan/Kenner/Metairie/Lakeview for some.

Wise i have a buddy coming in from Chicago this weekend. Going to take him to get some bugs. You think Kenner Seafood will be solid? Was thinking Charlie's or Siether's.

I think anyone of those places are good. Why not just go to Big Fisherman and post up out front the RDV? Great weather for it.

I dunno .. putting a big pile of bugs on those rickety metal tables on the sidewalk where out of towners will be constantly walking staring at us going "ohhhh look honey they're eating crayfish!" doesn't sound like fun

If someone from out of town wants to go to an old line New Olreans restaurant I send them to one of two places, Commander's or Arnaud's. Arnaud's is great, and if you pair it with the French 75 bar you have a great night.
The above makes me sad for Antoine's.

I love Arnaud's. I think the food is excellent for what it is and that's typical New Orleans fare. I particularly enjoy the Sunday Jazz Brunch. Food's great and the place is festive. I've eaten there for Easter Sunday Brunch the last 2 or 3 years.
I don't usually order the brunch type food so I can't address that, but the oysters Arnaud are delicious. It's a sample plate of all the baked oyster varieties they serve.
Service has been good and I've never found it stuffy at all. Maybe they're stuffy with stuffy people, R2R. JK
