I'm trying to figure out what CPA study course I should use, and I know Becker because they wouldn't leave me alone my senior year. I'll be honest and say I burned out my senior year, so I am probably not as knowledges as a fresh grad should be. Becker is just really expensive, and my current job does not help with this sort of thing. Is Becker still the best bet or should I be looking at another program.

That stinks that your employer won't help. Becker is solid (when free) though you could get by way cheaper. I don't think I would have used becker if it wasnt free.. though the stuff works. Don't worry about not being fresh... just dedicate yourself when you start studying.

Becker is pushed the most, but there are CPA's at my office who didn't do the course. I'm not sure who they used, but one sends you books and stuff that you get to keep forever. I'd recommend Becker if you wanted to take it and just get it over with.

I hated Becker... it's too tedious and time consuming. I went with Roger's cram sessions about ~$250/section and went 2 out of 3 on my final 2 parts.

I just took BEC yesterday, used Becker, didnt really seem to be an accurate representation of what was asked on the test really. the stuff that becker stressed was barely asked.

My company gave me $1000 discount for becker, so i used it and already ordered the materials for each section, so ill be using it for FAR, REG and Audit, hopefully its better for those sections.

Had no idea you were going for the exam. Good luck.

Go ahead and violate the ethics section now by getting a torrent.

Becker does a pretty terrible job with BEC, but they do a good job with the rest of the sections.

I used Becker. I passed all four on first try. It's a good program.

I'm looking at Yaeger right now. I can get a decent chunk taken off the price too. Anyone used it?

My firm doesn't offer any discount either. Would it be dumb of me to purchase discounted Becker materials off of eBay?

My firm does a discount but I still don't want to pay for it. I'm looking at lower cost alternatives too.

From what I understand of Becker, there isn't a way to get their materials or the "becker experience" unless you go through them.

You can buy the books and use those at anytime from someone. To use the software, you need to actually log in and download it to your computer. You can do this with up to three devices. I am doing the live classroom. I start AUD claases tomorrow at UNO. I don't know what they send you when you choose the online or self study way. I will probably get the Ninja notes to go with Becker.

If Becker is about to run out, isnt there a way to extend it free of charge?

I just got mine this year. I haven't seen anything about that. I have heard about buying a pass, but I think they don't do that anymore. I don't know everything about it though.

If self-study works for you, I would recommend looking into the Gleim study materials. These books and CD with sample questions prepared me very well when I passed the exam six years ago. I have heard positive reviews from other CPAs that I work with as well. Good luck!

I was just browsing on ebay and you can get all the hard copies of the 2013 books, flash cards, video files of the 2012 lectures, and a PDF of the 8,000 or so practice questions.

Eventually I want to do this just for personal reasons. I used conviser Duffy back in the day. But didn't commit enough to study and didn't pass. I know of someone that did Becker and he passed. The test is way different now then 15 years ago.
