They could just change up the name slightly. I know it's not the same, but something like nopelicans247 could work.
They should have tried to get pelicans247 even before the name became official. Especially if they had an inside track on info.

This doesn't make much sense. The domain was registered on December 4, 2012,
That's just a few days after 42 posted an article saying all the evidence pointed to Pelicans. LINK Months earlier various writers at 247 talked about registering rebranded domain names as soon as Benson declared a rebrand would happen. Did they really not register Pelicans247.com immediately after Benson was announced as owner. I'm no fan of cybersquatters, but if that registration date is correct I don't really feel sorry for Joe.

I think they do benefit from the way it shortens to 247, but people go to them for the content they produce. They could use any random Pelicans blog name and probably retain the same user base.
