Why would an advanced alien race come to a world covered by water?

Water vapor in the air?

Louisiana humidity?

It's not about crap like that. It's about a man's strained faith. His love of his CHILDREN and family and God's intervention on a one on one level in a man's life.

This flick is on AMC right NOW. And I am looking forward to the "Merrill, swing away" moment.

The moment you cretins decry. The moment you cynics roll your eyes at. The moment you say "yeah right."

It is that moment when I will get a catch in my throat. It is in that moment when I will say GOD DAMN RIGHT SWING AWAY MERRILL. YOU SWING THE frick AWAY!

Signs is a damn good movie. A movie that shows the faults of man and the possibilities of redemption, faith and love.

If you can't see it, I feel sorry for you. But it is my HOPE that you can understand, stop being such beggin arse nancy boys and realize JGL is a homo.

That last bit was too far.

Mel Gibson fo life.

eta: the dude's name is Morgan. Not Merrill. I was getting him mixed up with the chick from Metal Gear.

Thanks, just tuned to amc. No matter how many times I see it, I still get Shyamalan'ed at the end.

This flick spoke to me personally. Maybe it's because I have my own issues with god and faith.

But I love it.

I actually agree with your overall point that some on here sometimes put too much thought into certain movies.

Titanic is a movie about love and social class.

If the iceberg had just turned into ice cream at the last second and instead of sinking the ship had given everyone a delicious treat and then anachronistic helicopters had taken them all to candyland, it would still make sense as a movie.

Because it's not about the boat. It's about love and social class. Why can't you see that?

What ending?

I'm still bitter about Signs. I was expecting some bottom falls out ending, but instead, the crop circles everyone suspects are from aliens are actually from...aliens. Terrible.

The problem I have with Signs is the same problem I have with other Shama-lamb movies: interesting premise with an underwhelming/borderline retarded ending.

I like Signs but M. Night Shyamalan movies always seem to disappoint people. Therefore, it does not suprise me to hear someone not appreciate one of his movies.

One of my favorite movies. I've always been fascinated with Aliens and I'm religious so this movie works on multiple levels for me. I still, and probably always will, remember seeing it as a young kid with my two older brothers.

Those who can't get over the fact that water is lethal to the aliens should probably stop watching movies with any sort of hidden themes or motifs.

Never have I witnessed a director more pathetic at closing out a film. It's staggering how bad he is
