Cal deals with insane amount of talent on one team, gets them to actually play together and has international coaching experience.

Popovich and Doc Rivers are great choices.

Calipari not so much.

Popovich but he is actually fairly old. Just 2 years younger than Coach K.

I think Doc Rivers would be good and possibly Doug Collins. You know he would take the job in an instant, and he would definitely get the guys pumped up if they ever play Russia.

Billy D is the current coach of the Team USA Under 19 team. He's got some nice experience.

Popovich is undoubtedly the most qualified. I've heard that he and Colangelo haven't always gotten along though. It seems NBA players respect and enjoy Popovich though. Doc Rivers would be a good choice as well but if they go the NBA route it should be Pop.

Calipari would be horrible. This isn't about recruiting better then everyone else. It is about actual coaching ability. Whoever it is will already have the best players no matter what.

Popovich and its not really close. I think he's next in line anyway.

If it is going to be a pro coach, I think both Pop and D antoni would be great choices. Personally, I'd rather a top level college coach that has been around for a while, done it all, and has a lot of respect just because NCAA ball is a lot closer to International rules IMO. Maybe a Jim Boeheim (sp) who has a lot of experience coaching team USA with K.

Da fuq has Dantoni done to warrant him as a candidate to coach team USA?

He coached over seas before the NBA. Has a ton of experience with the international rules game. He is a really bad fit in L.A. with that squad and those players. I thought it was a huge mistake to go after him and not Jackson when they did it.
