The Natural Bull Durham Miracle I liked The Running Man when I was in Junior High... Does that count? Not many good soccer movies out there.

That's a solid movie. I would put it in a sports movie top 20 easily. Keira Knightly looks great in it also.

That's one of those movies that is nothing (or vitually so) about the sport - and everything about the human condition as told through the medium of the sport.

That's fair - I don't really think of either as a "sports" movie, per se.

Still love it - there's no coming of age rule or OP parameters that the movie has to be just about the sport. The Sandlot isn't about baseball. A lot of movies just have a sport in it as a backdrop to frame the story. Has a lot cycling and a race at the end. It qualifies in my book...

I was complimenting the moviemakers in using a tool seamlessly. I think that's harder. Obviously, Remember the Titans is first, and foremost a football movie. The fact that it does a lot more than that during the running time is one of the things that makes it a good movie. Breaking Away, Rudy, and to a certain point the original Rocky movie were able to make the sport itself, secondary to the journey of the main character.

Well I wholeheartedly agree about Rocky (original only.) I've always hated when people talk about it as a "boxing movie." It's a love story.

Victory is the only one, and I liked the idea better than the execution. It has its moments, though.
