Just to throw a couple unmentioned out there-

Blue Chips, and I guess it's debatable but I consider Heaven Can Wait in the sports movie catagory.

Sports movies (like war movies) are a little easier to get moving because there are built-in, easy to understand conflicts that are usually front and center throughout the movie. That allows you to focus on other things, the secondary conflicts and internal conflicts that make the events more interesting.

I think I'm probably the only person that didn't care for that movie. Not even in my top 5 football movies, let alone all sports.
