Steven Jackson opts for free agency

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports Steven Jackson will indeed void his $7 million player option, making him a free agent on March 12.
He immediately ascends atop the free-agent running back market, passing Reggie Bush, Rashard Mendenhall, Ahmad Bradshaw, and Shonn Greene. Per the Post-Dispatch, Jackson "more than anything" wants to finish his career with a Super Bowl contender, which is understandable considering he hasn't appeared in a playoff game since 2004. Rams beat writer Jim Thomas calls the Falcons "one of the most likely suitors" for S-Jax.
So where will he end up? I think the Falcons make a lot of sense. I'm not sure how much Jackson has left in the tank though. I know he had a solid year last season, and before every season the last couple of years I keep predicting his decline, but he's due.

I hope he puts money aside and signs with a great team for his shot at a ring.
He deserves that much - he's been maybe the best player trapped on a worst franchise over the last decade.

If the Broncos don't get either Bush or Jax then John Elway should kill himself.

Broncos with Steven Jackson

He would make a ton of sense with the Falcons. He'll be 30 this summer so leaving 7M on the table is risky...he must legitimately just want to play for a winner.

My first thought was ATL as well. Being part of a tandem with Jacquizz might save a few miles on his odometer for later in his career
