I rather real dirt also but plain and simple ULL doesn't have the budget to maintain a field and keep it in pristine shape like most of the sec schools.
What do you mean? Afterall we learned in the other thread that ULL ranks 26th in average attendance and has had a staggering 2 sellouts in the past 3 seasons. With a fanbase like that the money should be rolling in.

Even this, what is the point? They have tarps to cover the infield when it is raining. I don't see any point in having a turf infield. Serves no real purpose other than to give up a lot of base hits.
Are you serious? The point is first it can drain a lot of water quickly so rainouts don't happen often. Then there's not much field maintenance everyday. Also the turf plays pretty much just like real grass.

Believe it or not, the turf is not faster on ground balls than a hard natural surface and you don't get the high bounces either. I know a couple of coaches who don't like it because infielders have made plays on balls that would have gone through on grass. Of course in rainy weather they love it.

I was referring only to the infield Einstein. If the OF was turf and the IF was grass, but covered with a tarp, rainouts would be approximately the same.

bullshitee. It isn't even close.

This is the only one I will give you. I wasn't looking at it from a monetary point as I have already stated. I was strictly talking about playing.

I guess you dont realize that at times it may be raining while the game is being played. The infield aint going to be covered at that time. Turf means you wont have to stop the game because the infield conditions are too bad.

It really is, but whatever.

Oh it ain't? They ain't gonna cover it when it is raining and they are playing? Who woulda thunk it. No, I'm just smart enough to realize when they are playing on it in the rain, it typically isn't raining very hard. In these situations they usually put diamond dry or another substance in the dirt to help dry it up every inning or as needed. It isn't going to become so saturated that they can't play on it all of the sudden if they have been playing through the rain and it hasn't gotten any harder.

No, it really isn't, but you are the smartest guy in this thread so you win.

I doubt he has, he's probably drawing from his personal experience in youth rec leagues.

Playing baseball at night used to be considered sacrilege. MLB has allowed their teams to use artifical turf since 1966.

If you knew me you would know I am more of a LSU fan than ULL fan but i do like both schools. It's amazing the people on here that compare LSU to ULL. I don't see any ULL fans claiming to be better or even close to LSU on here or even predicting a win tomorrow. Yes ULL fans and Lafayette are excited to host LSU tomorrow as it's not often LSU comes to town nor is it often they leave BR before SEC play starts. It would be nice if people could just discuss the game on here instead of putting down everything ULL but then again this is the rant and that would never happen.
