Even this, what is the point? They have tarps to cover the infield when it is raining. I don't see any point in having a turf infield. Serves no real purpose other than to give up a lot of base hits.

Small budget meant no grounds crew which meant players and coaches getting there early to work the infield.

a baseball field still involves a lot of daily maintenance, especially when the weather gets warmer. that costs a lot of money.

the same turf just painted brown. my old high school got this a year or two ago. we played our league softball games there and it was awful

They are going to convert back to a dirt infield as soon as they pay off that 55,000 seat renovation to their football stadium.

I rather real dirt also but plain and simple ULL doesn't have the budget to maintain a field and keep it in pristine shape like most of the sec schools. Either they can have the turf and never worry about playing conditions or a half arse field with grass.
