This. But I don't know that it's a minority. I think nearly every person is "racist" in some way. At the last company banquet we had, people naturally segregated themselves. We were seated randomly, but as the night progressed, black and white people congregated. People naturally prefer people like them. In some (or most) people, this can easily become a view involving superiority.

You're acting like a moron, Roger. I spent half of the OP talking about things that I dislike about Barack Obama. You're acting as if I think the only thing people dislike him for is his race.
I'm addressing your stupidity. You made a comparison to Ron Paul, which proves you definitely don't know what you are talking about. Are there some racists? You bet. Is is overstated by liberals? Damn right. Obama doesn't see nearly the hatred Reagan or Bush faced. Of course there are racists out there. But to use Paul as a comparison is ridiculous. Probably the most hated politician outside of Obama, by Conservatives.

So when could someone of Ron Paul's age, with his views, have logically been proud of his country?

Oh no, not that racism doesn't exist. But when some congressional leaders pander those MINOR elements it convinces a lot of people that there is racism. Do you remember Cantor in MTP being asked to state that POTUS is an American? The guy couldn't do it but he eventually did.

I can't speak for Paul, but folks who have libertarian leanings are rarely if ever proud of government. People? Yes,...but rarely if ever government.

Well, I think some people take it personally, and they don't want race being brought up whenever they criticize him. It's pretty clear sometimes though.

So, based on people's political views, it's totally reasonable to have not been proud of one's country in a long time?

Not sure what that had to do with racism. Many people bought into that birther crap.

There is absolutely no way that any white president would ever, ever have been subjected to that amount of scrutiny regarding his place of birth.

If you have what is considered extreme ideology (Socialist/libertarian) probably so.

I think my point bringing up Cantor was the pandering to birthers. Understand that when some people in electorate don't view you as equal to them i.e not a citizen, it sends the message that you're an outsider. And more so this perception resonates a lot with people of color.

There has always been a courtesy extended to the FLOTUS regardless of what made her different. Barbara Bush looked like GHW Bush's Mom, but nobody said anything because she was someone they could relate to---a beloved grandma. Michelle Obama was unlike anything those that had to suppress their timid bigotry, could relate to. Knowing that racist remarks are not tolerated or PC, they thus attack everything else to vent this frustration

I don't think I've been proud of my country in my lifetime. Granted, I haven't been around for 240 years, so that may have something to do with it, but I don't think there are many times at all that anyone should ever be proud of any country.

I think mos people are smart enough to see beyond it, for what it really is. some aren't and unfortunately some of them vote. Sometimes things are just what they are, and not some hidden meaning or agenda.

You must be too young to remember Nancy Reagan.
