Right. You don't really need to inflate child rape and the subsequent coverup of said child rape to make it sound bad. That's about as bad as it gets.

let me rephrase what I'm saying, people who hate the Catholic Church seem to only focus on the bad and forget all the good things the Church does.

Scientologists think they do a lot of good in the world too...but there reaches a point when the good is heavily out weighed by the bad.

I've never ever understood this sentiment.
I understand it because being Catholic isn't a thing of I enjoy going to this church the most or I agree with what the CHurch does the most. Its not an issue of finding the best Church or the Church that sins the least or something. Why people never leave the Church even though they may hate all the sex abuse stuff is because the sex abuse doesn't effect their faith. They have faith taht Jesus established the Catholic Church as his true Church. They have faith that Jesus is truly present in the Eucharist. So even if the Church was the worst organization in the world they would still be Catholic because its not the organization that matters its Jesus that matters and their faith has lead them to a point where they believe the Catholic Church contains the truth and they don't want to leave it. For me if it didn't matter what Church I was in and no matter what Church I atteneded as long as I did what they told me to do I could get just as much glory in heaven as eveyrone else in heaven. I probably wouldn't be Catholic. Look at times the Catholic Mass can get boring and I rather not be there. Now I love the Catholic Mass I go daily and I never get board of it. I admit sometimes I want to get out but that would be true anywhere. But when I first started to discover my Catholic faith if me being Catholic didn't matter I would consider moving churches, and that would simply be I would think a protestant service was more enjoyable to go to or some BS like that. But for me it does matter what Church I am in, being Catholic is essential to my life and no matter what happened to me I will always be Catholic. It has nothign to do with the people int he Church what they teach, what they do, but rather it has everything to do with Who humbles himselve and becomes bread for us. No other thing on earth no other religion on earth will ever be able to fulfill me in the way the Eucharist does. The Catholic Church is the only one who gives me this. For me to leave the Catholic Church would be like a diabetic avoiding foods which he knowns is medically beneficial to him. For me depriving my life of the Eucharist and the other sacraments is like a diabetic denying himself foods that would help him medically and putting his own health on risk. Again we are Catholic because of Jesus nothing else.

and your mind a handful of bad things in a church which has billions of people in it outweighs all the good things it does.

in my mind any cult that gets together and brainwashes it's followers while bilking them out of their money...yes..the bad outweighs the good. You believe in god? great! Why do you need a giant mega corporate church with millions of dollars worth of "stuff" to worship him in? Most true believers should be happy to worship him in an empty field. Do you think god needs churches to reach his flock? If you do that says a lot about the god you worship.

It's not really about what God needs. It's more about what He ordains. God ordains the church. I just simply disagree with catholictiger about that being Catholic church.

Pretty much every Christian denomination believes their church is special and under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Not sure why Catholics get singled out.

Catholics are somewhat insulated from the evil history their leaders have perpetrated on mankind, not unlike many Germans, who loved the Nazis. Exhibit A: The Catholic Church is separated into a laity and a clergy. This is where the wrong started. Now, they can call Peter whatever they want. They can ordain ministers. They can call you a bishop, archbishop, cardinal, prelate, pope---every fancy word they can think of. But never was the Christian Congregation of the 1st century established like this. I am quite convinced that the Catholic Church is nothing more than the 'Great Apostasy' foretold in the bible. Exhibit B: These so-called 'good works' is not unlike any criminal organization that gets involved with the community. See Jerry Sandusky. See Lance Armstrong. See Al Capone. Hell, see the Nazis. They all had charities and good deeds they performed. Finally, when the words 'Catholic, Pope, or Cardinal' only bring to mind horrible atrocities, then you know something is horribly wrong with the whole thing. Why now? I attribute advancements in technology, social media, and a 24-hour news cycle as the reasons for getting news on many things that have assuredly been going on for thousands of years. My mom is 62 and says this has been going on for awhile, but back then you just didn't, or were instructed not to talk about it.
