I'm Catholic and always will be. I never plan to leave. But Swampcat is right. The church is responsible for some horrible things.

Love the way you twist that. Your "church" does all these horrible things and much more, I just report it, then all of a sudden I am the one who is hateful. Gotta love that. . The Vatican is evil, it was from the very beginning, yet good people remain naive.
look all people F up and do bad things I don't deny this and the Church has done some bad things. But also the Church is one of the biggest forces for good in the world. It just seems the way the world works for everything we ignore the good and inflate the bad.

Most Catholics don't have a clue or they don't want to know the truth. I dont hate catholics at all, some people in my family are catholics, they are wonderful people, but the vatican is so damn corrupt,

What do you think can be done to fix the corruption? We can't make up for past atrocities, but maybe we can work towards a better future. I'm just curious to see what you think.

So perhaps you can stop pretending that it is guided by the power of the holy spirit and it's just like any other fricking religion

The holy spirit works in us despite our F ups. but nothing I'm going to say will convince you of this so I'm not going to waste my time.

It's ridiculous that you somehow think that you're above protestants and your church is "special" and operates under the guidance of the holy spirit. The protestants left BECAUSE your shite was fricked up

I've never ever understood this sentiment. I grew up Catholic and have since converted, and through my attempts to share the gospel with some of my relatives I was oftentimes told this very line." I was born Catholic and I will die Catholic". On some levels I could understand this saying if the person stating it was in pure ignorance. But, you have willingly admitted that you know the church is corrupt, but refuse to leave. Reminds me of third and fourth generation Democrats that just stay in the party even though its against their best interest just for the sake of tradition. Perplexing!

The catholic "church" murdered and tortured thousands, raped only God knows how Many innocent children from its beginning, buried the remains of babies from pregnant nuns in monastery walls, Yea, u be styling! Boy I bet u r so proud of your "church. " THIS is "reporting" or stating facts as you see it? Am I proud of the CC? Never said I was proud or Catholic. I asked for a link about some of this stuff. Nun's babies in walls?

And BTW, I don't see any religion as being above or below another. I think that if you're going to a follower of a specific religion or Faith then you should do your best to be really good at it. This, of course, does not exclude critical thinking!

Do you think they're ignoring what is corrupt or simply living their life at a local level? Honest question.

Well the area that I grew up in (Lafourche Parish) had at that time, a pretty high rate of illiteracy, and at that particular time, it was before the Internet and such. Most of those relatives were older as well and didn't get much further in their travels than the southern part of the state. So yes, some of that was a byproduct of living a sheltered life.

I find it interesting. I have many relatives that are devout Catholics. Some educated and some not so educated. Many support the CC no matter what. Others are cafeteria Catholics. I think it is easy for many people to support their church (or any larger organization) because they are so far removed from the "leadership" of that organization. It's easy to turn a blind eye to things that do not necessarily impact one's day-to-day life.

Do other religions not pray for guidance? I don't see the issue.

LINK The Nun stuff is urban legend you hack. The torturing stuff is accurate. I'm not sure what the statistics are on rapes of children, etc.

Whoa. I would dare to say the Protestants did not leave because the Catholic Church was so messed up. It was a political and power issue. On the surface, it appears to be theology based. History shows theology was merely a symbol and tool to gain power. As an institution inspired by God, but administered by man, the Catholic Church as made many mistakes based on the decisions of man. These decision was made from ignorance or in contrary to the wish of God. Free will is a bless and curse. Regardless of man decision, the wishes of God will be carried out eventually. Unfortunately, this will not have instantaneously. The decisions of men have to be lead to their conclusions. I believe God will not forget those who have been wrong due to bad decisions of other men.
