I took that picture to send to my dad as an argument for us to get the 35 for next season I also showed him the damage it did on this yearling @ 200yds Although, the guy was shooting for the shoulder, he didnt miss by much at that distance, given the size

I hunt with a 444 during primitive season and I think it's a joke -even more so with the 35. I'd have no problem with going back to smoke poles only during primitive season. I like deer hunting as much as anyone, but I'd be in favor of a shortened season too.

I support this change 100% "Primitive Weapon" season was a freakin joke. Go back to the patch and ball weapons. I have an old Plains Rifle, .54 Cal. that will place a ball in possum's ear at 100 yards...If you can hold it on him!

I wouldn't mind going back to the ole school black powder/bow, but don't shorten my season and charge me $490 in licensing fees

I will not re-join my lease in MS this year if they do away with crack barrels in primitive season. The out of state license fee is outrageous to only hunt a month of the season with a gun.

Two separate issues IMO. Price of license shouldn't be considered when determining what is best for the deer population.

Explain....My 45/70 shoots great. I was very impressed and have had no problems. Not saying it shoots as well as my 300 but I havent had any problems out of it.
H&R 45-70 Ultra Hunter (the stainless one with the thumbhole stock), Leupold VX-II, LeverEvolution 325 gr. From a clean bore.... 6 foulers before it will group consitently, then you get about 10-15 more shots out of it before it needs to be cleaned again (groups get loose), and you need to get the 6 foulers thorough it again. Now, you boys may have a different opinion on accuracy, but it's not a sub-moa rifle IMO. So, what the MS guy said is patently false. It's not a modern firearm, and doesn't behave as such.

He can still use it. It's still a fantastic deer rifle, way better than a .243.

The opposition will come from manufactures, dealers, and retailers, they really like that you have to buy multiple set ups

that. Id be in favor of just taking the primitive seasons and turning them into bow season.

The information I got from someone in MS was they planned to just turn the primitive weapon season into an extended rifle season basically. Going to be one long arse season.

I don't get this. Could see that resulting in a vastly decreased population.

And I would expect WLF to go up on license prices if they are not going to get the extra for primitive weapon
