First off I have a few concerns.

No stand is private. If you put up a stand anywhere then its open to everyone. Not sure how I feel about that since I will be doing all the scouting and work but somene else benifits from it.

Also they have mentioned improvong campground facilities such as closing in a skinning shed. I won't be using these since I live a few miles down the road and have all that here. Would it be wrong of me to refuse to chip in?

Ever member also must contribute to keeping feeders full of corn. I'm not a big fan of feeders especially when you have 12 of them on 600 acres. Some within 150 yards of each other.

Positives

Seems at least half of the hunters rather sit in a box stand looking down a lane rather than put out effort and hunt. May work to my advantage.

Its close to home and has potential for a decent trophy.

I'm not real thrilled about it, especially since I saw the other members they added from Slidell but I'll give it a shot and hopefully not russle any jimmies

That would be a deal breaker for me.

Being new, I say you just suck it up for now.

How many people have you got hunting the property? And how many of those are die-hards?

Use a climbing stand. They sound too lazy to f$%k with one. I would have a problem with the stand rule, but this is how I'd approach it.

Chip in on the improvements. Just cuz.

The corn...if it's a club rule, you gotta do it. Not a fan of hunting over feeders, but it will help keep deer on the land. And if camps around you are feeding, you're at a disadvantage if you don't.

5 new members and 7 old members. Of the old members maybe 3 diehards. New members I have no idea but potentially all 5. On 600 acres all wooded

Irritating, but just make sure you're the first there to hunt it.

No, you won't be using it.

Feeders

Too many on too much land. IMO that's how deer go nocturnal.

Box stand hunters

You will benefit from their laziness.

frick yeah. Easier to make hunts, easier to fill the freezer.

Just enjoy yourself. Do what you do, as long as you're not breaking any club rules. Just hunt, enjoy the time out there.

Put up a climber and don't tell anybody about it.

If they are mostly box blind hunters they wont take the time to go back in the woods and find it anyway.

Many bowhunters? I'm in one lease that I'm the only bowhunter. I hunt'em early and late. They can have it during gun season.

Do you also get small game rights? Ability to shoot on the land in the offseason? Membership could be worth more than deer hunting.

I have a few ladder stands and a climber. Gonna put them up in some tough to get to places where it takes some walking and hill climbing to get to. Hopefully it will discourage other from using them

That's entirely reasonable. I have no problems with some of our members that'll work but can't or don't want to pay. I prefer to pay and not work!

the club is kinda being born again and I was presented with the old rules. Was told that we would have a meeting and go over them and discuss if any needed to be changed and look for ideas. Not sure how open the old members will be to new ideas though

I don't wanna be hard to get along with, just wanna hunt in peace the way I like to hunt. Also don't wanna be "that guy" but I've hunted these hills all my life in some high pressure areas and I've seen what works and what doesn't. I don't wanna come off as being cocky (which I tend to do sometimes)
