Lacking brains? You obviously are either lacking or have been in the dark and speaking without knowledge. Look at his educational background and speak to those who have seen him speak during session before forming that opinion. He is a tremendous speaker and very intelligent. I assume you were valedictorian of your high school class, west point graduate, and top 5% from LSU law school? Sometimes it is better to remain silent than remove doubt.....

Also, he is not related to Edwin in any way. He happens to have the same name. Sure democrats have an up hill battle. As a republican, this is the first time I will vote democrat. I don't think he will have too much of a problem pulling votes from Diaper David. He is the most conservative democrat I have been around.

His relationship with the teacher's unions is enough to keep me from voting for him. Angele, Dardenne and Strain will all run.

he's a sharp guy i think this electorate is too dumb to look past party affiliation, though all the R has to do is lump him in with obama and he's done

His is smart enough to separate himself from Obama and smart enough to pull votes from the very conservative Diaper David. Although challenging, I firmly believe he can defeat a republican, irrespective of his party affiliation.

i think you overestimate the sophistication of the electorate but i'd to see him make a serious run. i think he's sharp and want to hear his ideas

Maybe Kennedy or Dardenne? Dardenne looks to be heir apparent for governor though. He should coast once Jindal runs for Senate and fails IMO.

It'll be interesting. Vitter will be very strong.

I've heard him speak plenty of times.

You sound objective. You realize that the diaper thing was completely made up, don't you? As in, the blogger that started the rumor admitted that it was a complete fabrication. You realize that, right?quote:

He's one of the least conservative white Democrats in the legislature. It's fine if you know him and he's a friend of yours, but let's not act like he's some middle of the road reformist.

You mean, besides the fact that the last Governor was a clearly inept Democrat and the senior Senator is a Democrat? This kind of shite cracks me up. Do you really want to compare the political independence of the average Democrat and Republican voter in Louisiana to see who crosses over more often?

I'd reckon that you overestimate how many ignorant Democrats left the state. It's not really a big number.

Certainly not as big, but you'll have less adamant anti-Obama voters as well. Not to the same extent but to an appreciable one. If Mitch gets bored with City Hall though, you'll see a surge in black voter enthusiasm.

No. He's from a long line of Tangipahoa Parish politicians. However, you never know how many dim bulbs will pull the lever for him thinking they are actually voting for Edwin Edwards. ETA: I've heard JBE speak and he comes across to me an anything BUT stupid.

I gues that Vitter being implicated in prostitution was fabricated? He probably never got involved with prostitutes and the entire investigation was a conspiracy. I do believe that when voters are given the choice between someone with the sketchy background that Vitter possesses versus the character that Edwards possesses that Edwards will pull more republicans than you might think. Also, you said Edwards lacked intelligence. Please provide your premise for that assertion.

I agree with you that JBE is very intelligent and good in debate on the House floor.

You must be around nothing but extremely leftist Democrats. Just off the top of my head, without delving hard into specific voting records, Elbert Guillory, Neal Abramson, Jeff Arnold, Jerry Gisclair, L. Thierry, Germaine, and Francis Thompson (at least John Bel Edwards has ethics far and above Poverty Point Thompson) have all displayed more conservatism in the Legislature than JB Edwards.

Vitter is about the biggest threat the Rep have to fricking te election up. Edwards will get hammered for his cozy relationship with the teachers union added to his districts ridiculous educational system.
