re: Do You Always Submit a Cover Letter with a Resume?

The answer is yes HOWEVER don't half arse it. I read lots of resumes and there's nothing worse than some a-hole not researching the company and just writing nonsense about why they're submitting for our company.

Oh and it absolutely can hurt you if you can't write or don't have something sincere to write.

That's the question to ask yourself about anything as far as overdoing the job seeking process.

If it can't hurt, and you want/need the job, do it.

ETA: Just make sure if you do it, it's decent and genuine.

Can you please explain what you witnessed in the interview that made you think they don't care too much about their employees?

Didn't read all pages, but yes, always include a cover letter.

Also give a call a few days later.

This I disagree with. Have people call on your behalf. But don't call personally ... If they're interested ... They'll call you.

You don't attach a cover letter when you are bringing your résumé in with you for an interview. You do attach a cover letter when submitting a résumé electronically or by mail.

I'll be honest, though... I very rarely read cover letters. I usually had way too many resumes to read to spend time reading cover letters. I did notice if one wasn't attached, though.

Thanks for all the advice. I am going to submit the cover letter. I wrote what I think is an excellent cover letter, got it reviewed by career services at school, and got their seal of approval.

I just read what was written in that message. I was dictating that to someone else while I was cooking, and they typed it up all wrong.

I simply meant to say that I think the interview went well except I was caught slightly off guard by the Gallup questions even though someone had forewarned me about them in the other thread.
I really want to work for Stryker. They are my number one choice. I don't believe that they don't care about their employees, especially after talking to current employees. I love that they do community service activities together outside of work.
