figure out that you have to quit and restart the game in order to achieve something. I just don't like how that is part of the game.
I totally see your point. Things like that, and like how you get to the Ancient Stone Dragon. Who the frick would think there are two illusory walls? I didn't even know about the cave at DR Basin until my current playthrough.
However, once you do the DLC it makes sense that it is where it is. Still, a new NPC at Firelink to give you some sort of idea would have been convenient.
I think the best Dark Souls experience is to play it for the first time blind. No guides, no nothing. And then use walkthroughs, YouTube videos, and forums for hints and stuff for your next playthroughs.
Yea about that... frick that!

Right, it is just odd to have to restart the game like that.
I happened to stumble on that cave while playing, which was a huge relief since the Hydra kept killing me. But I never would have thought to go look back there to find Dusk, internet told me that. Unfortunately I read so much about this game before I decided to buy it that I spoiled a lot of things. I can't wait for Dark Souls 2 b/c I won't be looking at anything until I play through it once.
I really wish I could go back and play Dark Souls for the very first time. I can't remember the last time a game just totally absorbed me like that.

You have to rest at a Bonfire after getting the lord vessel in order for that Bonfire to appear on the warp list.
I have at a bunch of them and they havent appeared.

It isn't every single Bonfire you can warp to. Its only specific spots in certain areas. Most areas have one you can warp to, some areas have more than one. Firelink Shrine, Chamber of the Princess, Darkmoon Tomb, Anor Lando(by the fire keeper), Undead burg(by Andre blacksmith), Chamber of Chaos. Those are a few areas off the top of my head.

With a Playstation Plus subscription, Demon's Souls is free to download this month off of PSN. Just an FYI

I know right. I watched the 12 minutes of gameplay and it looks pretty solid and stayed true to DS pretty well. I want to go in blind also but I remember that feeling during DS and I was really weird compared to how much I know now. It was like i was dropped down not knowing where the frick to go or why I was even there.

So I got to lower New Londo. Out the following:
Abyss
Duke's Archives
Tomb of the Giants
Demon Ruins
Which should I do first?

ETA: I'd actually say do them in the order you have those posted.

The tomb of the giants if the easiest in my opinion but then again I know exactly whats coming. New londo ruins are decent but the boss is fricking annoying.

I've pretty much gone through the entire ruins, so that part is done. It would just be crossing to the abyss.

Not as bad as people make it out to be. Just go in there, find one of the bosses, rape him (roll to the left, I believe to dodge his attacks), pop an Estes, look around until you find another one, repeat till all health is gone.
Make sure you're wearing that ring though.
