Are you talking neighborhood ponds, or a pond in someone's front yard?

I've been lurking a while, and I went through the FAQ thread. Lots of laughs there.

I decided against an intro thread, from what I could tell those are generally frowned upon around here

I do too! Catch and releast only. Nice to be able to catch 20 bass in about 40-50 cast.

I think it is. You manage the herd and have complete control over what is being taken out and how much they are eating.

Yes. Someone tells me they caught an 8# bass I'm impressed until I find out its a private pond then not so much.

I suppose it depends on where you are and how big the pond/tank is.

Absolutely. That's why they aren't eligible for state record books.

I once fished a offshoot stream of the American River in California at my uncles 25 years ago. I hiked around and found a little pool, 40 x 10 yards. It is possible that the small mouth in there had never seen a bait, ever. They hit every bait that I threw. Unpressured fish are like unpressured deer...

right

the majority of these small private ponds are over populated and the fish are starving

they will hit almost anything
