Had it been a person responsible instead of a brain infection, yeah, I'm probably considering homicide instead of suicide. People without kids just can't understand.

Just as you can't mentally back to a time you DIDNT have kids. It's relative. Having children does not exempt you from what the law says, regardless of what it seems.

Why'd he hide the gun if he was temporarily insane?

This fricker knew exactly what he was doing and deserves to be punished as such. Its tragic the circumstances that brought upon his actions, but that doesn't exempt him from the law.

And I'm still waiting for someone to answer how he knew the driver was drunk, since that seems to make killing him ok with posters here (which is pathetic, btw).

Messed up story. I wouldn't be surprised if the shooter gets life since this is Texas we're talking about. I seriously doubt he'd get the death sentence given the circumstances.

That is manslaughter so he would not be eligible for the death penalty anywhere.

Become a father and your thinking will change. You will feel love to an intensely and power you never thought possible.

At least you would accept the responsibilities for your actions and admit there would be consequences. The posters in this thread saying the dad shouldn't be punished for his actions are insane.

Indeed I would. I would not enjoy being incarcerated for how ever many years or even the rest of my life. But I also could not rest knowing my little one's lives had been cut short by some worthless piece of shite and he still had the privilege of living. Sending him to prison would not serve justice, he would have to pay with his life and the state simply is not going to do that. That's why I would and then I'd live with what came after.

Would your plan of action changed if you would be leaving behind more children tat would grow up without a father?

I'm about to get married, and my fiancee would br incredibly mad with me if I got myself locked up for a long time, even with these circumstances. I guess would knowing that you'd be hurting your wife and other children change how you'd act?

This only makes sense if you're a single father. Selfish act considering he has two other kids and a wife.

And in the case of this guy, let your other two kids grow up without a father. But hey, you got your revenge though.

You're right, an accidental death is definitely the same as walking away to get a gun, firing a single shot to the head, then hiding said gun.

Actually it would. I'm the father of two children, thus when I hard this man lost two children this to me immediately made me think I'd just lost both my kids what would I do.

Now if I still had one or more living children then as a father it would still be my responsibility to care for them and their mother and that means being there for them. As painful as it would be, this would mean allowing the justice system to work as best it can to deal with the murderer (and yes, a drunk driver is a murderer) and lock him up.

If I remember correctly, wasnt there a guy who killed another guy who molested or raped his young daughter, and got away with it?

Not the same situation, and I don't agree with that regardless.

Don't be so hard on him. I think he's just young and naive when he says things like calling the father a "POS murderer" and saying he is "worse" than this drunk driver.

While I don't disagree with the gist of this post, I think the dad's actions are in fact worse. The driver's actions were an accident, and the dad's were deliberate.

Both are horrific acts against a persons kids. Both are revenge driven. One gets put in jail, another gets off scot free? Not sure how they differ that much.
