re: Texas man kills drunk driver that killed his sons

I never said there were no rednecks in this thread. I said not everyone is a redneck that feels that way. I'm far from being a redneck and can empathize with the father in this situation.

eta doing lunch with the SO, I'll be back in an hour or so.

I'm not one of the people that get on here every week and think its cute to constantly belittle and bash the police for setting DUI checkpoints and try catching and stopping people from doing shite like this.

But I still agree with you on the outdoor board on kahrs

This has nothing to do with the situation, but go on.

Maybe this is more of what I'm thinking.

quote:

Another form of the insanity defense is volitional insanity, or Irresistible Impulse. A defense of irresistible impulse asserts that the defendant, although able to distinguish right from wrong at the time of the act, suffered from a mental disease or defect that made him or her incapable of controlling her or his actions. This defense is common in crimes of vengeance. For example, suppose that a child has been brutally assaulted. If an otherwise conscientious and law-abiding mother shoots the perpetrator, the mother may argue that she was so enraged that she became mentally ill and incapable of exerting self-control. Very few states allow the volitional insanity defense.

I would assume this would still come with a punishment, but not the death penalty or a life sentence.

Neither am I.

I agree, drunk driving is fricking horrible and the guy made a horrible choice, but that doesn't make it okay to murder him. The poor dad made just as big a mistake, and he will carry that with him for the rest of his life. I do hope that he ends up with manslaughter and does a few years then gets out on account of the scenario, but he has to be punished somehow.

love me some kahrs

I was looking for that just now.

I don't think the guy will get anything severe. he will get manslaughter and do a few years and move on.

re: Texas man kills drunk driver that killed his sons

I personally think a father should have the right to kill a drunk driver that killed his kids. I also think that anyone caught drinking and driving should be pulled from their car by their hair and beaten within an inch of their life and left on the side of the road to bleed. I have zero sympathy for anyone that drinks and drives.

I don't think anyone has failed to empathize with the father, it's truly awful. But now for the sake of his own perceived vengeance, he will have to go through the criminal justice system to the detriment of his wife and two other children.

I've got two kids, and I'm in the final season of re-watching The Sopranos.

That fella would wish he had died in the crash.

That is used for revenge against a person who committed a crime like assault.

This doesn't qualify.

I can't speak for other fathers but for me, I would not be able to rest until this drunk driver was dead by my hand in a manner that was even more painful than the manner in which he killed my little ones. In my opinion, that would be the only way justice would come close to being served. And yes, I would take full responsibility for my actions.

Maybe barajas "accidentally" shot the drunk in the head. He might have pulled the gun on him and the drunk reached out and tried to grab the gun and it went off. Pure accidental. Case closed.

so you would step up and plead guilty to first degree murder?

No way this dad should have done what he did. No matter how "right" it seems. We are a nation of justice, not vengeance.

That being said, I think the laws should be changed and killing someone in a drunk driving accident should be first degree murder.

Of course I also think DUI 2 should be a mandatory 5 year sentence and 3 should be life without parole...

shite don't come down to south LA then. Like I posted last night pulled one over years ago coming head on with me on 4 lane hwy and it was his sixth. Already had suspended license and served no jail time. Never even had to spend night in jail.

Well considering that what I would be doing is in fact 1st degree murder, yes. And would not bat an eye in either doing the deed or accepting the consequences that come.

not me bruh, I would have stuck a shard of window glass through his eye and claimed it happened in the accident. Prove otherwise.

If he lives, he lives.

Such as his life would be with one eye.
