My mom had to go to jury duty recently here in Houston. One guy did exactly as you said, and the judge made him attend the entire trial... Not as a juror, but just to watch.

Doctors DO NOT get out of jury duty.

Reschedule if you can, reschedule to as early as possible before Christmas or Thanksgiving. Judges will probably want to get out for vacation and wont call a pannel

If you are going on vacation do they ask for proof?
