i think he just didn't want to be subject to their control anymore. he didn't even take the 6 months of transitional insurance b/c he'd have to be a reservist or support role. ASSUMING this is all true

Odd.
My late friend who was a member of Team Six , one of the one killed in the helicopter shooting in 'Stan , told us that all the Team member had swore to each other that they would never discuss the details of the Bin Laden shooting.
Now these guys can't shut up about it.

They probably could have. He has instructor positions open to him, especially after his accomplishments. Than again, maybe that was denied to him because of this very raid.
I have absolutely no idea what went on with this guy and the pentagon. They may have wanted him gone and made his life hell.
If I had to bet though I'd imagine he decided to seperate seeing as he can cash in on this exploit now.
