While you suck at geography I get your point.

My in-laws left out of New Orleans on a Carnival ship on Sunday. Their ship was sent to deliver supplies. I still haven't heard if it adversely effected their itinerary as well.

Anyone know how these boats generate power? At first I just assumed that the boat would still have power and be fine, just couldn't move. I wonder if they generate off of the main engines, or if the fire was big enough to take down 2 different systems.

I think the engines are set up as generators and everything runs off of electricity. Thus no propulsion, water, sewer, cooking etc. they are probably running an emergency backup generator now.

But on the bright side, they get to end their trip with a visit to scenic Mobile. Small miracles.

This story saved me from having to take the wife on a cruise, and the one that crashed on a reef as well. She has been bugging them crap out of me for three years to go and was actually thinking of going this year but not anymore. Too many horror stories. Will have much better time in our own condo in Costa Rica or Barbados.

If all goes as scheduled and tugboats nudge the ship into port in Mobile Thursday, Alabama Cruise Terminal general manager Sheila Gurganus said, the disembarking passengers will be met by a medical triage center and extra security in case they need it.

Is the extra security for protection for the passengers, or from the passengers?

The Triumph will likely dock at around 5 p.m.

Their vacation is almost over. I'm sure the disembarkment process will go smoothly as each and every passenger waits their turn to get off the ship.

Amazed that this does not happen more often. Especially with the 7 day vessels. They NEVER stop. Spend about 12 hours docked and it is off again. Even less time is spent docked at different ports.

Think of the smell though. Carnival typically has a high % of larger guests....fat rolls sweating......no a/c....

If I would have been on that ship a life boat would be missing and the coast guard would be looking for the distress signal.

I bet Mobile is excited to see there will be a Carnival ship using that $20,000,000 dock and terminal they built for Carnival right before they pulled out. LINK

I'd rent a car and GTF. 4000+ passengers and crew wallowing in filth for 5 days and then you have to cram into a bus and/or a plane. No thank you. Surprised they haven't had any outbreaks of illness.

No shite.

I wonder how long it will take before Customs officials actually lets the process start.
